Absent: Callum Telfer. Setting sail on Young Endeavour Seven young people will be embarking on the journey of a lifetime through the Upper Hunter Young Endeavour Scheme in early 2018. The 10-day tall ship sailing voyage is thanks to a partnership between generous community sponsors and the Upper Hunter Shire Council, with nominee fundraising also supporting the program. The names of the lucky three females - Emma Reynolds, Bridget Crowe and Phoebe Weatherly and the three males - Toby Barry, Callum Telfer and James Hagely were drawn at an event on Wednesday, 22 November 2017 at Scone Race Club. This year, an additional young person, Tori McNaught, will also be participating in the Young Endeavour thanks to a generous anonymous sponsor. The seven participants will survive sea sickness, cold, wet, cramped conditions, sleep deprivation, climbing to the top of the mast, and being without their phones or television, to then describe it as the ‘experience of a lifetime’. Scone Motor Inn Council, with the help of the Upper Hunter community, has supported this program since 1998 and over this time nearly 80 Upper Hunter youth have Conference Centre participated in the Young Endeavour voyage. The evening was hosted by four of the six members of the Young Endeavour Affordable 4 star Accommodation crew who sailed earlier this year. Conor Edwards, Brianna Denley, Ethan King Suites, Spa Suites and Two-Bedroom Apartments Hansia and Paige Haydon ran the event showing the teamwork a trip on the Young Endeavour fosters. • Colin Lane Comedian / Professional Show Off
Colin Lane Comedian / Professional Show Off As the ‘Lano’ from Lano & Woodley, Colin Lane was one half of Australia’s favourite comedy duo. They won comedy’s Oscar, the Perrier Award, and their series The Adventures of Lano & Woodley played in more than 30 countries. In 2006 they said Goodbye with a tour that played to 125,000 people in 34 towns. Since the farewell tour, Colin has toured to cabaret and comedy festivals around Australia, most notably teaming up with the hilarious David Collins from The Umbilical Brothers to tackle Gilbert and Sullivan in The 3 Mikados. Colin has been a regular on a wide variety of Aussie TV shows, including Spicks and Specks, Ready Steady Cook, The Circle, Good News Week & The Project. In 2013, he was a guest panellist on UK favourite QI alongside Stephen Fry and Alan Davies, and has returned several times since – most recently in 2019 on the new-look, Sandi Toksvig-hosted version of the hugely popular show. He has worked with both Red Stitch under director Nadia Tass, and The Production Company, in “Curtains”. He’s also teamed up with his friend of 25 years, opera singer David Hobson, for “In Tails”. They sing, dance and even tell some jokes in a unique and hilarious experiment that entertains and beguiles in a whole new way. Colin reunited with Frank Woodley as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival 30th Birthday Bash at the Regent Theatre in 2016, for a surprise performance that brought the house down. It naturally led to a serious “Waddya reckon?” chat.

ENTERTAINMENT ON IMPARJA IN 2018 EMBARGO: 6PM OCTOCBER 11, 2017 IMPARJA is ENTERTAINMENT, with The Block currently on air celebrating its 13th series and showing no signs of slowing down, with audiences up 20 per cent on 2016. The year started with a stripped series of Married at First Sight which proved to be a smash hit with TV viewers and one of the most highly streamed programs since OzTAM introduced its video player measurement (VPM) system. Imparja has continued to roll out top-rating programs including The Voice, as well as a slew of brand new formats that have all performed exceptionally well, such as Travel Guides, True Story with Hamish & Andy and This Time Next Year. But the breakout hit of 2017 was Australian Ninja Warrior, which broke ratings records and holds the title of the No. 1 non-sports program of the year. And still to come this year is Family Food Fight, Imparja’s brand new cooking show, showcasing the very best in home cooking. Six food-loving Aussie families will go head-to-head in the kitchen in a battle to prove whose food is best, but only one can walk away with the title of Australia’s Number One Food Family. Our contestants will cook a range of family staples and all-time favourite feasts. They will all cook the food we love to eat at home. They’ll also be catering for special occasions, feeding an array of guests, and recreating tried and true recipes from some of Australia’s best chefs. Acclaimed chef and restaurateur Matt Moran is Family Food Fight’s lead judge, assisted by high-energy, mohawked uber-pastry chef Anna Polyviou and popular foodie and cookbook author Hayden Quinn.
