Absent: Callum Telfer. Setting sail on Young Endeavour Seven young people will be embarking on the journey of a lifetime through the Upper Hunter Young Endeavour Scheme in early 2018. The 10-day tall ship sailing voyage is thanks to a partnership between generous community sponsors and the Upper Hunter Shire Council, with nominee fundraising also supporting the program. The names of the lucky three females - Emma Reynolds, Bridget Crowe and Phoebe Weatherly and the three males - Toby Barry, Callum Telfer and James Hagely were drawn at an event on Wednesday, 22 November 2017 at Scone Race Club. This year, an additional young person, Tori McNaught, will also be participating in the Young Endeavour thanks to a generous anonymous sponsor. The seven participants will survive sea sickness, cold, wet, cramped conditions, sleep deprivation, climbing to the top of the mast, and being without their phones or television, to then describe it as the ‘experience of a lifetime’. Scone Motor Inn Council, with the help of the Upper Hunter community, has supported this program since 1998 and over this time nearly 80 Upper Hunter youth have Conference Centre participated in the Young Endeavour voyage. The evening was hosted by four of the six members of the Young Endeavour Affordable 4 star Accommodation crew who sailed earlier this year. Conor Edwards, Brianna Denley, Ethan King Suites, Spa Suites and Two-Bedroom Apartments Hansia and Paige Haydon ran the event showing the teamwork a trip on the Young Endeavour fosters.
