The Cornish Coast Tour key locations from BAFTA winning drama Poldark

Friday 7 th – Monday 10 th October 2016 3 night / 4 day, fully escorted tour.

Day 1: North

Escorted by your host, depart with Flybe from Guernsey at 08:10, (via Jersey) or Jersey 08:55. Arrival into Exeter International Airport at 09:40.

Collect your luggage and commence your tour. Meet with Blue Badge Guide, Viv Robinson from Absolutours who will be your local expert along the captivating Cornish Coast.

Introduction to Launceston, the ancient capital of Cornwall. Free time to explore the town with optional visits to the castle or Lawrence House Museum.

Lunch in Jericho’s Kitchen with a rustic menu and seasonal menu overlooking Launceston castle and the church.

Continue onto the wild and mysterious Bodmin Moor which provided the perfect backdrop for Poldark’s plots of passion and drama.

Visit Padstow where much of the filming was done along the rugged north coast cliffs.

Scenic drive along the dramatic coast line taking in Porthcothnan with its pretty covers so typical of this area. Porthcothnan was used as Nampara Cove in recent Poldark filming.

Day 2: Mid & South East Cornwall

Depart the hotel at 09:30 after breakfast.

Panoramic drive through the bustling cathedral town of surrounded by beautiful gardens and rivers. Here you will be introduced to many of the historical buildings and those associated with the Poldark Saga.

Visit the quaint Minions hamlet on Bodmin Moor and enjoy a walk onto the mysterious moor then enjoy a refuelling quick stop in the local café or village pub.

Travel to Charlestown via the 1,000 year old stannary town of Lostwithiel.

Lunch stop in Charlestown which features as the main port in the recent TV drama. Browse the antique shops, boutiques and optional visit to the Shipwreck Museum.

Tour Trerice Manor, a National Trust Elizabethan Manor, with impressive interiors and a delightful garden. The Manor was used as Francis Poldark’s home in the original adaptation.

Arrival at approximately 17:15 at The Headland Hotel for leisure time and dinner.

Day 3: West Cornwall

Depart the hotel at 09:00 after breakfast for the seaside town of with its spectacular beach. This is where Winston Graham lived for 30 years.

Transfer to the impressive open-air Minack Theatre (with a short steep walk on paved road) set into the cliff for beautiful panoramic views across the bay to sweeping Pedh Vounder Beach.

Visit Botallack Crowns and Wheal Owles Mines both iconic tin mines that have now become synonymous with Poldark series.

Move on to Geevor Tin mine with views across to Levant Mine which appears as Tresidders Rolling Mill in the series. Lunch stop here as well as time to visit the Poldark exhibition of photos and artefacts from the filming.

Coastal drive along some of the most stunning Cornish Coastline passing through Hayle, Gwithian, Portreath and the from where Demlza hailed.

Day 4: Exeter

Depart the hotel at 09:30 after breakfast for Exeter for a morning at leisure.

Free time to explore the historical city of Exeter. Visit the impressive cathedral and browse the shops before being picked up at 15:00 to return to the airport.

Depart Exeter Airport at 17.05 for arrival in Guernsey at 18.35 via Jersey (17.50).
