The WhatsApp group seen by MaltaToday reveals messages from Nationalist MPs insisting that they would make their own plans for attending the protest organised by Civil society network. Over the last two days several Nationalist MPs had agreed that they would not walk with their leader Adrian Delia and would make it a point to attend the protest but keep a safe distance from Delia. Marlene Farrugia, in a Face book post this afternoon, called on Delia to resign before he inflicted more damage to Malta and the Nationalist Party. During the same period MaltaToday had also carried in depth investigative stories on some of Delia's business history and client base, with reports on UK police investigations into links with London brothels and these offshore companies. In turn Delia had lashed out at Caruana Galizia inferring that she was a hate monger and 'a sort of journalist' (bicca gurnalist). He also opened five defamation cases against her allegations, which he later decided to withdraw after her murder in a bomb blast last Monday. Only this afternoon, The Malta Independent online portal where Pierre Portelli was until two months ago Content director carried a short announcement that Delia would not be participating in the Civil society network protest to be held this afternoon. All political parties have said they will attend. But Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced on One Radio that he would not be attending as he felt that he was not welcome and did not wish to provoke any reaction. Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne will attend in his stead. I stand to be corrected, but wasn tit her own sons who politicized all this and asked • the PM to resign in their first post after their mothers tragedy? After barely 3 days? I am sure that no one is more deeply hurt and sad than them, for God s sake it concerned the closest person to them, their own mum. And the angry outburst was coming from broken hearts. Plus they are still young. However, someone .....anyone ... should have advised them that it was just not the right time, and that political divide and hate never got anyone, anywhere. It was a macabre murder and no one rejoices at that, save for the very few, but politicizing it is another matter and should be condemned. l.':. v . Shdre , • Peter Midler ..,. If it comes to this and Delia loses the support of a majority of PN MPs, he risks being replaced as Opposition leader. The divisions within the PN parliamentary group became more apparent on Thursday night during a rowdy meeting of the PN executive. Delia told executive members that he could not attend Sunday's manifestation in Valletta that demanded justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia, because of "family commitments". Delia had first confirmed his presence in the demonstration, only to pull out at the eleventh hour (http://www.maltatoday.com.mt/news/national/81520/adrian_delia_backs_out_of_prc after it became apparent that PN MPs were not ready to walk next to him. Delia had been at the centre of criticism on Caruana Galizia's blog during the summer months and had also filed five libel suits against the journalist. PN deputy leader Mario de Marco told executive members the PN was becoming irrelevant and was leaving the protests in the wake of Caruana Galizia 's murder to other groups. In what was a clear dig at Delia, the other deputy leader, Beppe Fenech Adami said the party could not go as far as it should 11 11 because of the current situation • Fenech Adami said "everyone had to shoulder responsibililty", in another reference to Delia, who stood up in Parliament calling on Prime Minister Joseph Muscat to shoulder political responsibility for the murder. Some within the party have argued that Delia, who had dismissed Caruana Galizia as "an insignificant blogger (bicca blogger)", does not have the moral authority to lead the charges against Muscat in the wake of the murder.
