Dassault Systèmes Acquires SFE, a Technology Leader in Design Optimization and Automation 25 July 2013

Dassault Systèmes today announced the acquisition of SFE GmbH, a leader in body conceptual engineering and performance evaluation and optimization. The addition of SFE’s technology to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform enhances Dassault Systèmes’ transportation & mobility industry solution experiences, such as “Target Zero Defect”. This acquisition expands its CATIA and SIMULIA applications, bringing to the market an innovative technology for seamless transitions, from early conceptual engineering and performance optimization to detailed body design. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

“The combined SFE and Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform capabilities will lead to complete coverage of the entire value chain for the transportation & mobility industry. From quick modeling to post processing analysis, to product performance simulation and shape optimization, the full design process is integrated. I see numerous places where this capability can bring value to other industries, not just transportation & mobility,” said Bernard Charlès, President & CEO, Dassault Systèmes. “It reinforces Dassault Systèmes’ already strong position in the Body-in-White domain, as

Page 4 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary well as the automotive market, in general. It will bring immediate benefits to SFE’s long list of customers, including General Motors, Porsche, Fiat, Chrysler, Daimler, FORD, BMW, Volkswagen and others.”

“Today’s acquisition of SFE, one of BMW’s partners, by Dassault Systèmes, another major BMW partner, is good news. I can see the value it will bring,” said Detlef Helm, BMW Group. “The SFE CONCEPT solution has been used for many years at BMW within the full vehicle development field for functional assessment, validation and the generation of models for pre-concept development.”

Today’s announcement of an integrated conceptual engineering solution is unique in the industry. The concept phase is very critical and difficult as it requires the combination of multiple disciplines and skills. Customers are facing challenges to shorten their innovation cycle time and their product development lead time. Conceptual engineering, such as 3DEXPERIENCE and SFE bring, addresses these critical challenges.

“This is an exciting development for SFE and its customers and partners. We have worked closely with Dassault Systèmes over the past few years and we have seen firsthand its passion for its customers, as well as its vision for harmonizing products and how they are experienced in the real world,” said Hans Zimmer, CEO and founder, SFE GmbH. “SFE’s customers will receive significant value through Dassault Systèmes’ global support organization and well-recognized commitment to research and development.”

The transaction includes the purchase of SFE GmbH, its various products, SFE CONCEPT, as well as its acoustic and NVH simulation offerings, SFE AKUSMOD, SFE AKUSRAIL, and SFE MECOSA. The acquisition was completed early July, 2013.

Delcam CRISPIN Footwear Industry 3D Design Contest 25 July 2013

Students who have created the most impressive shoe designs using Delcam CRISPIN ShoeMaker Pro concept design software are to be presented with awards on 31st July at SENAI Bagueira Marcio Leal, in Franca, a major footwear manufacturing region near Sao Paulo, Brazil. The judging panel will consist of Juliana Gléria Carneiro, Lígia Cristina Villa and Thiago de Melo Rosa, all experienced professional footwear designers who have received international recognition for their work.

As well as recognising the students’ achievements, the event is designed to encourage the local footwear industry to use CAD to develop its new styles. The SENAI offers a series of lectures, workshops and training sessions enabling designers, teachers and technicians to create footwear using 3D digital design methods.

Page 6 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary

According to Mr. Fábio Sérgio Carrion, Director at the SENAI, "In order to face global competition, it is absolutely imperative for the Brazilian footwear companies to lead the way by producing differentiated designs. The majority of footwear companies are still producing hand-drawn designs which then have to be entered as vectors in 2D software programs for the production of 2D images, with no links into 3D CAD.”

"The main objective of this project is to support and challenge the local footwear industry by presenting tools and suggesting actions to streamline the creation of new designs. These tools guarantee that new designs are developed on top of the shoe lasts - absolutely key for a good quality shoe – as well as allowing designers to produce photorealistic 3D images and prototypes via 3D printing.”

"Once the design has been approved by marketing, designers can then produce the correspondent engineering information for the various upper shoe components for the production of the tooling. Solutions such as these enable micro and small footwear companies to compete with large companies by guaranteeing similar time to market for the launch of new footwear collections.”

During the event, Sara de Castro Mardegan, Technical Support Manager at Seacam, Delcam’s reseller in Brazil, will discuss how Delcam CRISPIN’s ShoeMaker Pro 3D CAD software provides a set of intuitive tools that enable the user to produce realistic 3D digital models with ease. Ms. Mardegan will show how the software can reduce prototype time and cost, by enabling the user to model the upper and sole in the same digital environment, and produce realistic digital models to help shoe professionals approve designs faster.

At the SENAI, students have the opportunity to design shoes using Delcam CRISPIN software with awards being given for the best designs. The winner will be offered an international placement by Seacam, which will include a period at Delcam plc headquarters located in the UK.

SENAI Mix Design takes place from 30th – 31st July 2013 at Auditorio do SENAI Bagueira Marcio Leal, Franca-SP.

Bilkom has launched a project called “History comes to life in 3D” using 3D modeling software and

Page 14 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary mobile technology from GRAPHISOFT and Abvent. As a result, the ancient city in Bergama can be explored in 3D, making it possible for visitors to experience a virtual tour of the historic area for the first time.

iVisit Anatolia, a 3D viewing application for tablets and smart phones developed for Artlantis by Abvent, enables users who visit Zeus Altar, the Temple of Athena, the Red Basilica, and Asclepion, the four ancient sites in Bergama, to explore these historic sites in a 360 virtual tour as they looked originally. Universities, architecture students, municipalities, and Bilkom worked together to launch the project in a mere 2 months.

Under the leadership of architect Ender Aydın, Bilkom’s Digital Life Coach, 12 architecture students from the universities of Dokuz Eylül, Gedik and Yaşar and a research fellow met twice in Bergama with the coordination of Bergama Municipality Development and Planning Department UNESCO World Heritage and Area Management during weekend workshops. The 2D drawings of the ancient sites were exported to ArchiCAD and rendered in Artlantis, while the unique panoramas were created using iVisit 3D, Artlantis’s 3D presentation tool.

Stating that they were proud to develop iVisit Anatolia, a software opening the doors of the ancient wonders of Anatolia to both foreign and local tourists, Abvent professionals thanked Bilkom for the “great idea” that built upon a similar cultural contribution they developed for Versailles Palace in 2012.

Moreover, GRAPHISOFT stated its contentment to learn that the 3D modeling of the historic sites in Bergama came to life via its award-winning ArchiCAD software.

Integrated PSE - Unique to ICAM! Inside a single software platform, Integrated PSE provides a unique environment for Post-processing, Simulation and Emulation (for G-Code) that interfaces with the most popular CAD/CAM/PLM systems, CNC controllers and machine tools on the market.

Page 18 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary PSE V20 Features SmartPATH(TM) Integrated PSE V20 features SmartPATH, unique software designed to automatically optimize rapid positioning toolpath motions generated by CAD/CAM systems. This software provides savings both in CNC run-time positioning and in CAD/CAM toolpath preparation.

Rapid positioning motions generated by CAD/CAM software do not take into account machine tool kinematics, workpiece setup and travel limitations and therefore, place the burden of responsibility for safe and efficient positioning onto the NC programmer.

SmartPATH identifies inefficient and unsafe positioning motions and automatically replaces them with minimized collision free safe motions based on the actual machine tool kinematics, physical travel limits, axes positioning rates and the dynamically changing state of the in-process stock.

SolidCAM Sets New Standard for CAM Software at EMO 2013 21 July 2013

As always, the EMO tradeshow is a great opportunity for SolidCAM to present its best and latest developments in machining. At EMO 2013 it will be demonstrating its new SolidCAM 2013 SP2 version that includes some of the best features and improvements yet.

SolidCAM 2013 SP2 has more than 100 new enhancements across all its modules: iMachining 2D & 3D, 2.5D Milling, HSS, HSR/HSM, Sim 5X, Turning, Advanced mill-turn for multi-turret and multi- spindle machines, as well as a new module - Solid Probe. The handling of large models in SolidCAM 2013 has been dramatically improved, with immense time savings, due to much faster facet generation - resulting in huge reductions in programming time for big CAM-parts.

For SolidCAM's 2.5D Milling module, additional Toolbox operations have been added, while Threading and Engraving operations have been enhanced. The HSS complementary module for surface machining has also been upgraded with extra auto detection for radial and spiral technologies and lead-in ramping options.

SolidCAM 2013’s powerful 3D Milling solution, comprising the High Speed Roughing (HSR) and High Speed Machining (HSM) modules, has additional new strategies and benefits including Hybrid Machining, faster multi-core calculation, which uses the full power of your computer’s processors, and smoother surface finishes.

The latest version includes major enhancements to the Simultaneous 5 axis module. New tilting options have been added and improvements made to the SWARF, 5X Drill and Convert HSM to Sim 5X operations.

In addition, three new operations have been added to the Sim 5x module, making it one of the most powerful of its type. The new Multi-blade machining operation easily handles impellers and bladed disks, with multiple strategies to efficiently rough and finish each part of these complex shapes. The Port machining operation is a new and easy to use method for machining ports with lollipop milling tools - four strategies are provided to machine and finish a port: Rouging, Rest Rough, Spiral and Plunge

Page 20 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary Finishing. The new Contour 5-axis machining strategy tilts the tool along a chained 3D profile according to defined tilt lines, making it ideal for deburring and trimming.

The Advanced Mill-Turn module in SolidCAM 2013, handles any type of multi-turret and multi-spindle CNC machine and sets the standard for easy programming for these complicated machines. The Machine control operation MCO, balanced roughing, multi-turret synchronization and full machine tool simulation have all been extensively improved.

SolidCAM’s patented iMachining 2D module, with its Technology Wizard, provides users with the fastest cycle times, saving 70% machining time and more, unmatched hard material machining, significantly longer tool life and outstanding small tool performance. Now, with the iMachining 3D module, users can automatically produce a complete, ready to run CNC program, with optimal cutting conditions, for 3D Parts. This is achieved by the software’s expert Knowledge-based Technology Wizard and Toolpath roughing and rest roughing a complete 3D part, with true scallop on all slopes, all in a single operation. iMachining 3D, combined with its full-depth step-down, intelligent step-up, localized machining and smart positioning, achieves the shortest optimal cycle time, saving up to 90% compared with other systems, for roughing and semi-finish of molds and complex 3D parts.

With iMachining 3D, you can also mill prismatic parts, which include hundreds of pockets and islands. This can be done in one operation, without the need for defining geometry chains, directly from the solid model of the part and the solid model of the stock. iMachining 3D will do the rest automatically and optimally.

In SolidCAM 2013, the iMachining 3D tool path is automatically adjusted to avoid collisions between the holder and the updated stock at every stage. Without holder consideration, tools need to be long. By taking the holder into account, tools can be shorter and stronger resulting in faster cutting. New in SolidCAM 2013 is an option for step-up rest-rough, after each step-down, leaving more room for tool holder avoidance

SolidCAM continues to push the CAM boundaries with the launch of its Solid Probe module. The new Solid Probe allows users to define the home position and to perform part measurement cycles during machining, and is completely integrated with the other SolidCAM operations. Additionally, it supports tool presetters and tool breakage detection. Machining operations and Probe operations are intermixed in the CAM manger, using the same geometry. Should the solid model change, both the machining and probe operations automatically synchronize to the alteration.

SolidCAM is a leading integrated CAM for SolidWorks. In SolidCAM 2013 an option has been added to save all CAM-data inside the SolidWorks SLDPRT/SLDASM file and to work with SolidWorks in Part Only (without assembly) mode. Furthermore, Solid Verification has been speeded using multi-core calculation and can now also be shown, together with 3D tool, in the SolidWorks window, enhancing the integrated experience for SolidWorks users.

Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM Reduces Lead Times for Industrial Molds 23 July 2013

Shorter lead times and faster delivery are essential for success in any mouldmaking company. Staff at Industrial Molds consider Delcam’s PowerMILL CAM system for high-speed machining to be critical to achieving the company’s eight-week average lead times.

"PowerMILL reduces our lead times in a number of ways,” explained Greg Osborn, account manager at

Page 28 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary Industrial Molds. "It delivers the machining accuracy we need to reduce the amount of hand finishing we do. It also has a number of features that reduce programming time, plus powerful functionality, such as arc fitting, that allows us to run our machines at top speeds, which reduces machining time.”

Industrial Molds Group, which is based in Rockford, Illinois, is a leading manufacturer of precision injection moulds and the 2012 winner of MoldMaking Technology’s 2012 Leadtime Leader award. Established in 1968, Industrial Molds specialises in all facets of injection-mould manufacture including design, engineering, tooling and special machining services. The company’s extensive investment in equipment, technology and employees has enabled it to reduce average lead times by half over the last five years.

The strategy consisted of buying the best equipment, deploying the best technology and hiring the best people. Deploying the best technology included a switch from previous CNC programming systems to PowerMILL.

"PowerMILL’s roughing routines work very well, but that's only 20 per cent of the machining time in a typical project,” explained Mark Hastings, High-Speed Machining Manager. "Then, we utilise its rest- roughing strategies for semi-finishing. Finally, PowerMILL offers a lot of features that help us get to the actual net shape, such as picking radii and corners, pencilling out details and flow-line machining.”

PowerMILL provides control over machining tolerances. "The tighter the tolerance, the longer it takes to calculate the toolpath,” said Mr. Hastings. "We can loosen tolerances up while we are roughing, which generates the toolpath quicker, then tighten them up for finishing. With this combination, we can achieve close tolerances without sacrificing speed.”

"It’s really the synergy of PowerMILL’s tight tolerance toolpaths for finishing, along with the high-end Makino machines, good tooling, good holders and skilled operators that allows us to get our accuracy,” added Mr. Osborn. "It’s everything being at the same high level. An important benefit is that you know exactly where the steel is. As soon as you start hand working, you no longer match the CAD. With PowerMILL, we can get tighter shut-offs and there is no handwork.”

Another factor is PowerMILL’s open architecture, which allows Industrial Molds to create macros to automate repetitive tasks. For example, one macro performs multiple collision checks and multiple gouge checks with a single command. "I can select all my toolpaths, and gouge check and collision check on multiple toolpaths at one time,” explained Mr. Hastings. "There’s a lot of automation built into PowerMILL and we’ve added our own macros on top.”

Another programming time saver is the ability to save projects and re-use the majority of their machining strategies when developing toolpaths for similar parts. "I save out generic projects and bring in a new CAD model with similar features. I can then batch-process the toolpaths over the new geometry,” said Mr. Hastings. "There’s hardly any editing needed to what PowerMILL gives me for the new part.”

Page 29 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary

PowerMILL has also reduced machining time. "PowerMILL’s arc-fitting strategies allow us to take advantage of high-speed, high-feed cutters,” Mr. Osborn explained. "By smoothing out the transitions, PowerMILL allows for faster cutting while maintaining accuracy.”

Because Industrial Molds serves customers in such a wide range of industries, the breadth of functionality in PowerMILL is another key advantage. "Every material we cut, from hardened steel to soft aluminium or graphite, we program differently,” stated Mr. Osborn. "PowerMILL isn’t limited to one type of machining; plus with PowerMILL, the user has so much control.”

MATLAB and Simulink Deployed to International Space Station for NASA SPHERES Project 23 July 2013

MathWorks today announced that MATLAB and Simulink have been deployed to the International Space Station as part of NASA’s Synchronized Position Hold Engage and Reorient Experimental Satellites (SPHERES) project.

SPHERES are bowling-ball-sized spherical satellites used inside the space station to test a set of well- defined instructions for spacecraft performing autonomous rendezvous and docking maneuvers. The space station crew, on-ground engineers, and guest scientists plan to use SPHERES to study satellite servicing, vehicle assembly, and formation flying spacecraft configurations. By using MATLAB and Simulink, the team can test algorithms related to relative attitude control and station-keeping between satellites, retargeting and image plane filling maneuvers, collision avoidance, and fuel-balancing algorithms.

Additionally, MATLAB will help to render real-time, three-dimensional animation of the satellites during the experiment, allowing on-ground researchers to better visualize the ongoing experiment and view it from any angle. Until now, the only visualization available was a video from a fixed location.

“We are excited that NASA has qualified and deployed MATLAB and Simulink to the space station,” said Jon Friedman, aerospace marketing manager, MathWorks. “This deployment will help the NASA SPHERES team accelerate their work as more complex algorithms and tools can be developed in MATLAB and Simulink and reused directly on the satellites.”

Electronic Parts Catalog Software Provider CADENAS PARTsolutions Launch New Product Configurator for OEP Couplings 19 July 2013

Electronic parts catalog provider, CADENAS PARTsolutions, and OEP Couplings, a diverse manufacturer of precision CNC machined couplings and subcomponents, announce the new online product configurator at OEPcouplings.com. Designed to dramatically shorten the design and modeling time for OEP’s customers, the new configurator enables engineers to quickly configure and download models of OEP products in more than 150 native and neutral formats.

OEP Couplings manufactures CNC machined subcomponents, including variable capacitors and shaft couplings. Their component parts can be found in products from more than 100 industry categories, including food processing equipment, industrial machinery, firearms and many more. The diverse customer base makes ease of use and simplicity a critical factor for the new configurator.

Page 36 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary

Formerly, engineers would have a single point of contact at OEP for their CAD modeling requirements. The designer would call or email OEP’s internal resources, who would manually generate and email each CAD part individually. The manual process was time-consuming and cumbersome, creating a bottleneck in the process for both OEP and the customer.

“We saw the configurator on another CADENAS PARTsolutions customer site and knew we had found the answer to our problem,” says Steven Elliott, Plant Manager at OEP. “We liked the way it worked and looked. The CAD portion of the website performs flawlessly and quickly, without the need for the user to have any special knowledge or experience. The process is simple and intuitive.”

The new electronic parts catalog enables users to instantly configure and download the CAD parts they need and serves as a tent-pole for future marketing and customer focused initiatives. The analytics and statistics built into the online configurator will show OEP exactly who their “top fans” are, enabling OEP to distribute targeted campaigns and new offers much more accurately.

“Simple and functional, these are the reasons manufacturers have so much success with our product configurators,” adds Rob Zesch, President and COO of CADENAS PARTsolutions. “By simply enabling customers to work on their own schedule, configure the exact parts they need and provide files in the format they prefer, we’ve greatly improved the user experience and streamlined OEP’s internal process at the same time. We’ve consistently seen manufacturers leverage this approach to increase website visits, leads and sales, powering their business into the future.”

Luxion Introduces Integration between KeyShot and Pixologic ZBrush 23 July 2013

Page 39 CIMdata PLM Industry Summary Luxion is pleased to introduce integration between KeyShot and PixologicTM ZBrush® debuting this week at SIGGRAPH 2013 in Anaheim, California, June 23rd-25th at the Anaheim Convention Center. The integration is based on GoZTM, Pixologic's in-house application for transfer of meshes with a single button click.

ZBrush is a digital sculpting and painting program used by 3D professional across the media and entertainment industry. Previously, ZBrush users have imported ZBrush geometry into KeyShot by exporting an .obj file. Now, with the new KeyShot for ZBrush integration, through the installation of the GoZ KeyShot plugin, users gain the ability to import geometry while retaining SubTools, texturing and PolyPainting. Models may also be updated inside KeyShot through KeyShot's LiveLinking capability.

“We're excited to bring this level of integration with KeyShot to the ZBrush community.” Thomas Teger, Vice President of Products and Strategy at Luxion. “This is the first plugin of its kind that makes a rendering application an integral part of the artist's process. The artist now no longer has to wait with the the rendering until the design is finished, but start visualizing concepts from its earliest stages. This integration with the ability to update the design inside KeyShot throughout the entire process will ultimately lead to better designs and better images in a shorter period of time."

"KeyShot has proven to be one of the fastest ways of achieving realistic renders in a short amount of time." say Dominic Qwek, 3D Artist and KeyShot user, "It's simple workflow, clean user interface and amazing rendering capabilities allows me to focus more on the art and less on the technical side of things. With the new ZBrush plugin, KeyShot is now able to seamlessly import SubTools from ZBrush, even retaining PolyPaint data in the process."

How it works Like other KeyShot plugins, one click brings the ZBrush mesh and textures into KeyShot. After installation of the GoZ plugin for KeyShot, the user simply selects GoZ or All from the Tool menu inside ZBrush. This transfers the current SubTool or all SubTools directly into KeyShot. When any changes are made to the geometry in ZBrush, users may select the GoZ or All button again to transfer any changes back over to KeyShot with all material, animation, environment, lighting and settings maintained inside KeyShot.

Availability Currently in private beta, the KeyShot plugin for ZBrush will be available late Summer of 2013. This plugin will be available via the plugins page of the KeyShot website at keyshot.com/plugins. KeyShot 4.1 is currently available for purchase here with a free trial available at keyshot.com/try. For media interested in reviewing the new version of KeyShot or the ZBrush plugin, please contact [email protected].

ZWCAD+ Syble Enables Different Desktop-mobile Workflow and Project Collaboration 23 July 2013

ZWCAD Design introduced ZWCAD+ Syble to all CAD users, a more intelligent module in ZWCAD+ 2014 Beta with better online connectivity. Integrated in ZWCAD+ 2014, this new online module will automatically run in the background to synchronize drawings online, boost design collaboration efficiency and offer more value for designers worldwide to handle their most complex design and onsite challenges.

Increasing Construction Site Project Efficiency Designers may go to construction sites to check real work against building drawings, and sometimes they will also be plagued by the heavy printout drawings which cannot be directly opened and edited while discussing with clients. ZWCAD+ Syble enables communication in new and visually compelling ways. This Online Synchronization, coupled with ZWCAD Touch, a free-of-charge APP for mobile devices, help designers freely open, edit, visualize and display drawings anytime, anywhere. All the files will be automatically saved to the cloud instead of data backup.

Francisco Silva, a designer in LCW Consult SA, commented, “ZWCAD Touch has impressed me with its ease of use and good accessibility to files. Designers can save their designs on their iPads or even on the cloud, so that their work can be easily accessible anywhere”.

Optimizing Collaboration with Improved Connectivity Coordinating designs across a large project team requires significant file management, which can slow down the collaboration process. ZWCAD+ Syble allows designers to access one shared, real-time and auto-updated design file, optimizing collaboration with improved connectivity. With a shared cloud storage account, designers in a team can always get the latest and accurate files. It reduces the disturbance arising from file confirmation, and therefore streamlines project workflow and lowers rework risk.

Additional Value Brought by ZWCAD+ Syble The launch of ZWCAD+ Syble helps CAD users with most of the desktop-mobile workflow. Combining ZWCAD+ 2014 with ZWCAD Touch, users can also benefit from: • Your Familiar Cloud Account---Allowing designers to continue using their existing cloud
