There's Something Very Addictive About People Pleasing. It's A 14 Saturday, September 19, 2015 There’s something very addictive about people pleasing. It’s a thought pattern and a habit that feels really, really good until it becomes desperate. -Anne Hathaway London ey’s back — kind of. The megastar gave her fans aB surprise late Thursday night by offering up some new work via a single by the British DJ/producer Naughty Boy. • Guldsäljande Naughty Boy Till Stockholm I November

  • MUSIC SALES in NORWAY 2013 Ask Embla Photo: Truls Qvale
Ingebjørg Bratland & Odd Nordstoga ENVY (Nico & Vinz) Photo: Hans Fredrik Asbjørnsen Photo: Halina Sjuve MUSIC SALES IN NORWAY 2013 Ask Embla Photo: Truls Qvale INTRODUCTION The Norwegian music industry is rapidly growing. In 2013 recorded music was sold for 603 mill NOK, an increase of 11% from 2012 when sale of recorded music reached 545 mill NOK. The main reason for the increase is the development of the streaming services in Norway. The income from streaming services like Wimp, Spotify and Beat has increased 60% (!) from NOK 246 mill in 2012 to NOK 394 mill in 2013, and streaming now represents 65% of the sale of music in Norway. The total digital sales figures (download and streaming) increased with 40%, from 335 million NOK in 2012 to 468 million NOK in 2013. This definitely makes Norway one of the leading countries when it comes to digital consumption of music. The music industry and the companies represented by IFPI are witnessing a total makeover of the music industry. It is smarter (driven by analysis and data), closer to the audience (through social media), it makes it easier to spread the music globally (for example Ylvis and Envy), and the new business models Managing Director IFPI Norway: increase the revenues which can be Marte Thorsby reinvested in new talents. We are very positive to this change and we will work enthusiastically to ensure continued development in the years ahead. We’re working on increasing the use of streaming services through all age segments, with particular focus on the 40+. We’ve seen a decline in the consumption of Norwegian music in the transition from a physical to a digital market, and this is a trend the industry wants to turn.

  • The Naughty Boy Dancing Queen: Embodied Agency in Queer Transgression and Conceptual Muchness
Sarah Lawrence College DigitalCommons@SarahLawrence Dance Theses Dance Graduate Program 5-2020 The Naughty Boy Dancing Queen: Embodied Agency In Queer Transgression and Conceptual Muchness Hank Bamberger Follow this and additional works at: https://digitalcommons.slc.edu/dance_etd Part of the Dance Commons THE NAUGHTY BOY DANCING QUEEN: EMBODIED AGENCY IN QUEER TRANSGRESSION AND CONCEPTUAL MUCHNESS Hank Bamberger May 2020 Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts in Dance Sarah Lawrence College ABSTRACT This thesis aims to understand and glorify the transformative characteristics of theatrical transgressions and their lasting effects on performers and audiences in dance performance. In a history of queer transgression, artists have explored the concept of naughtiness in varied ways and through forms of embodied research, have attempted to activate unique landscapes for their own performative, excavational discoveries. By shifting modes of temperament within the stage arena, myself and others before me have attempted to achieve knee-jerk effects in live theater and concert dance in order to gain concretized levels of performative agency and authorship. Within this artistic genealogy, I pose the question: How can performances of conceptual muchness, defined as transgressing sensory (affective) and social norms, offer agency to a performer? This points to the possibility for creating utopias and dystopias in performance, where perfect worlds and destruction-based environments are formulated through surrealist structures and etherealized dreamscapes. These manifestations in my creative work are achieved through action-based doings and constitute an overt rejection of a white, patriarchal, hegemonic, cultural sphere that thrives on normativity. This project proposes that a performer can achieve agency through conceptual muchness: transgressive acts in performance that disrupt hegemonic norms of propriety by providing experiences of sensory overload and queer, overt resistance to assimilation.

Methodist History, 53:1 (October 2014) RENEWAL, REUNION, AND REVIVAL: THREE BRITISH METHODIST APPROACHES TO “SERVING THE PRESENT AGE” IN THE 1950S MARTIN WELLINGS In the late 1950s, the British Methodist minister with the highest public profile was undoubtedly the Rev. Dr. Donald Soper. Born into a patrician Wesleyan family in 1903 and blessed with a rare blend of artistic and intel- lectual gifts, Soper proceeded from Saint Catherine’s College, Cambridge, and Wesley House with a First in theology to a series of appointments in the London Mission. In 1936, after ten years in the ministry, and just seven years after ordination, Soper moved to Kingsway Hall as Superintendent Minister of Hugh Price Hughes’ West London Mission, where he remained for the next forty-two years, retiring officially in 1978.1 As a compelling orator, a committed evangelist, an exponent of Wesleyan sacramentalism, and a left-of-center political activist, Soper bears compari- son with Hughes and with J. Ernest Rattenbury. It may be argued, however, that he surpassed his famous predecessors in attaining public prominence and in attracting controversy. Agility of mind, facility of speech, and a flair for repartee, honed by weekly open-air debates on Tower Hill, suited the de- veloping media of radio and television, and made Soper eminently quotable in the press. His combination of modernist theology, high sacramentalism, and Socialist politics, expressed with insouciant wit and unapologetic élan, thrilled audiences, delighted admirers, and reduced opponents to apoplectic fury. Rattenbury’s leadership of the Methodist Sacramental Fellowship may have cost him the Presidency of the Methodist Conference; Soper followed Rattenbury as MSF president in 1950, but was also elected Conference President by the Conference of 1952.
