The Department of Nephrology at Scarborough Health Network is seeking a full-time Nephrologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be working with a strong, supportive and collegial group of colleagues in a three-site community hospital organization committed to providing high quality, comprehensive clinical services.

Candidates with hands-on working experience and skills in a community hospital setting and strong communication skills are preferred. As a staff nephrologist, you will be required to participate in the management of chronic kidney disease patients in our Multi-Care Kidney Clinic, hemodialysis patient care including conventional outpatient, inpatient, nocturnal, and home settings, critical care continuous renal replacement therapy, peritoneal home and inpatient dialysis care.

Responsibilities of clinical nephrology services include consultation with patient care support of the emergency departments, inpatient services and critical care units of the three SHN hospitals. Unique to the Scarborough Regional Nephrology Program is the requirement to provide MRP care of two inpatient nephrology wards at the General campus. MRP care of selective inpatients of the Birchmount and Centenary hospitals may also be required. Designated mandatory on-call responsibilities during days, nights, weekends and holidays are necessary working commitments of the Program and of an SHN professional staff appointment.

Competence performing central venous hemodialysis catheter insertion, bedside peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion, and closed kidney biopsy will be regarded as competitive advantages.

The successful candidates must be eligible for independent practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and hold certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.
