School Visits: Guided visits can be complemented by hands-on workshops. These workshops provide visitors an opportunity to enhance their experience in the galleries through art-making. Art forms explored in the hour-long workshops may include printmaking, painting, collage, drawing, and creative writing. Hands-on workshops are recommended for K-12 groups. All of our programs are offered in English, Spanish or both. Guided visits and hands-on workshops align with NYS Learning Standards, NYC Blueprint for the Arts, National Visual Arts Standards and Common Core Standards.

School Partnerships: As part of our Curious Life education programs, El Museo del Barrio’s Making Connections program offers in- depth, multi-session, bilingual residencies designed to link El Museo del Barrio’s cultural resources with learning settings beyond the . Throughout the program, El Museo del Barrio teaching artists and museum staff work closely with educators and community organizers from each partnering group to develop a curriculum which meet their unique needs, while ensuring a meaningful experience relevant to lives of participants. Teaching artists use El Museo’s collection and current exhibitions to improve student visual literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills. Participants also become empowered through further exploration of their culture and identity in connection with core subjects like Language Arts and Social Studies. Residencies are 10-12 weeks long, and typically involve 1-2 visits to El Museo’s galleries.

Fees: Due to the generous support of Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito in partnership with the Council and Council Members Inez Dickens, Daniel Dromm, Daniel Garodnick, Mark Levine, and Annabel Palma,we offer complimentary visits and programs to all New York City public schools located in their districts. Also, due to the generous support of Target, El Museo offers Target Free Field Trips to New York City Title 1 Schools.

$175 for up to 25 participants from a New York City public school not in the above mentioned districts.

THREE KINGS DAY Each year El Museo celebrates its time-honored tradition of the Three Kings Day Parade. Watch as this renowned procession explodes throughout the streets of El Barrio with lively music, dancing, and parrandas!
