  • LAHINCH GOLF CLUB County Clare-Irish Republic
LAHINCH GOLF CLUB County Clare-Irish Republic Archtiect: Allister MacKenzie Phone: 065-81003 Par Yardage Rating White 72 6559 127 Overview: This is a blue collar quirky links course that is nothing short of enchanting. As with so many of the old links courses it is built adjacent to a quaint summer resort town-complete with the “vacation trailer park” and probably a midway if you come the right time in the summer. The place wreaks of Irish country character and it holds a very special place among the great links courses of Ireland. This is not a rich man’s hunting ground-it is everyman’s hunting ground where all are welcome as long as they love to play golf. The collection of holes is quite remarkable-there are simply holes the likes of which you will not see elsewhere. Largest sand hills in Ireland except for the back side at Tralee-when my wife first saw the golf course from the edge of town her response was “what golf course”- the players and the greens just seem to be dwarfed by the grandeur of the hills. Now add to the mix windswept hard undulating greens, exposed windy conditions, and an occasional rain squall and you are in for a day of challenges that will thrill and enthrall. There is real MacKenzie bunkering here-very strategic and very intimidating. There is certainly no pattern to the routing you play a five par with a mountain in the middle of it followed by a three par where the green is hidden between two mounds that will remind you of some Grand Old Opry cleavage.

Southwest Ireland Golf Adventure Doonbeg, Killarney, & Kinsale June 28 - July 9, 2022 Event Details: We recently had several members ask us to organize a SFGA trip to the Southwest of Ireland and we agreed. After all, if you want to cross the great links at Tralee, Waterville, Ballybunion and Old Head off your bucket list, the Southwest is where you'll have to go! Well, we've had the pleasure of taking our SFGA members all over the world and one of their most popular golf destinations has always been Ireland. Ireland has so many reasons to visit in addition to the golf including the breathtaking landscapes, the witty humor, fantastic cuisine and the music. Even without a drop of Irish blood in your veins, it’s easy to fall in love with Ireland’s charms, traditions, and strong sense of community. You will experience these Irish traditions and more, as this trip combines the perfect blend of golf and sightseeing. And best of all, you’ll have one of the best driver/guides in Ireland who will teach you a bit of Gaelic, discuss Irish history & culture, assist with your bags and chauffeur you around in a private coach for the entire trip. Our trip will take place in July when the weather is typically warmer and the precipitation is considered to be low. It's the best time of the year to visit and the golf courses should be in their best shape. Ireland has become a mecca for golfers and one visit is all it takes to understand why the Emerald Isle is such a magical place.
