Daniel Schenker Quartet inviting Chris Cheek

Always having loved Chris Cheek's sound and melodic conception of playing, I had the idea to invite him to Switzerland for a new project after my six-month stay in New York 2002-03. Chris plays with , The Bloomdaddies and and has released several albums as a leader on Records, some of them feature guest musicians and .

In October 2004, the Daniel Schenker Quartet played a tour with NY tenor player Chris Cheek. Swiss Radio DRS recorded a concert, the CD in title soundlines will be released with TCB records. The CD soundlines follows the musical conception of iridium (2003), my first CD under my own name: focus on melodies and interplay, influences of improvisation tradition of the sixties and MPB (música popular brasileira). The Daniel Schenker Quartet was founded in 2001.

Press Quotes

"More inspired jazz from overseas. It's musicians like Daniel Schenker and albums like iridium that make this country's so-called jazz polls so patently ludicrous."

Nick Liebmann, NZZ, April 2002
