It has little impact on its host plant in its native range where both species have co-evolved, however where the plant has been introduced and has had no recent exposure to the planthopper, it has a major impact and has been trialled as a biological control agent. -

Because this commodity has not been imported from Colombia before, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) conducted a pathway-initiated risk assessment to determine the risks associated with importing these ‘Hass’ avocados. We developed a list of pests known to occur in Colombia and associated with avocado based on the scientific literature, port-of-entry pest interception data, and information provided by the Colombian Ministry for Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA). Commercial ‘Hass’ avocado is a conditional non-host for the fruit flies, Anastrepha fraterculus, A. striata, and Ceratitis spp. Thus, we did not list these organisms in the assessment. We determined that three quarantine arthropod pests were likely to follow the pathway, and qualitatively analyzed them to determine the unmitigated risk posed to the United States. Die Arbeit gibt eine Synthese der bisherigen Kenntnisse über die Gattung und umfaßt im ersten Teil die Abschnitte : Geschichtlicher Überblick, Morphologie und Physiologie der Imagines, Entwicklungsstadien, Ethologie und Ökologie sowie Phyletischer Ur- sprung der Piesmatidae. Der zweite Teil umfaßt eine systematische Revision aller paläarktischen Arten und Bestimmungstabellen für Imagines und die bekannten Larvalstände. P. kerzhneri n. sp. aus der Mongolei wird beschrieben und P. longicarinum HSIAO et JlNG als Subspezies zu P. ko- chiae gestellt. Ein Verzeichnis der bekannten Fraßpflanzen und die umfangreiche Literatur werden angeführt. Abstract On the basis of the type material, the authors have revised the Palaearctic species of the genus Piesma (Heteroptera, Piesmatidae). The present paper gives a synthesis of the hitherto existing knowledge on this genus and comprises in its first part the following chapters: Historical Review, Adult Morphology and Physiology, Immature Stages and Development, Ethology and Ecology, and Phyletic Origin of the Piesmatidae. The second part includes a systematic revision of all Palae- arctic species and gives keys for adults and the known nymphs. P. kerzhneri n. sp. from Mongolia is described and P. longicarinum HsiAOet JiNG proposedasasubspeciesof P. kochiae. Alistofthe known host plants is given and the rieh literature is cited. SCUDDER1 ABSTRACT A total of 175 changes to the current checklist of Hemiptera: Heteroptera of Canada and Alaska are reported. Eighty deletions, eighty-eight nomenclature changes, and seven spelling corrections are detailed. In addition, comments are given on Anthocoris tomentosus Péricart, Orius diespeter Herring, O. tristicolor (White), and Tupiocoris agilis (Uhler). Key words: Changes, checklist, Heteroptera, Canada, Alaska INTRODUCTION Maw et al. (2000) published a checklist of the Hemiptera of Canada and Alaska, giving details of the occurrence of the species of Heteroptera. Since then, there have been a large number of taxonomic changes that have resulted in deletions and nomenclature modifications for many of the taxa. In addition, a few spelling errors have been noted. Details of the 175 changes are outlined here, and comments on four taxa are given. The order of taxa follows Maw et al. (2000), but species are listed in alphabetical order in each family. Some groups of true bugs are among key pests of pistachio orchards throughout the country. Here, a comprehensive collecting of true bugs in pistachio orchards and surrounding weeds in Rafsanjan region (Kerman province) and its suburbs since March 2009 up to November 2011, resulted in finding 46 species of 37 genera, 17 subfamilies and 10 families. Among the collected specimens, two species of Riptortus oxianus Kiritshenko, 1914 and Parapiesma rotundatum Horvath, 1906 from Alydidae and Piesmatidae have been reported as new records for Iran. In order to study the genetic population, a partial segment of COI gene of samples was sequenced. The sequences were compared with those retrieved from the BOLD system and the GenBank through nBLAST. The results showed the COI sequences in the studied specimens can facilitate the separation of the species. Based on the relationships between these species, 10 tribes were clearly distinguished from each other as well as two infraorders, Cimicomorpha and Pentatomomorpha. This is the first effort to molecular study on the true bugs in Iran’s pistachio orchards. Key words: Pistachio, Hemiptera, fauna, molecular study, COI, Kerman, Iran. -

Also data on Heteroptera of three protected areas in the northeastern Iberian Peninsula are recorded, with nine new and/or interesting reports for Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac Natural Park (Barcelona), two new records for Delta de l’Ebre Natural Park (Tarragona) and four new or interesting records for the Planes de Son protected area (Lleida). También se aportan datos sobre los heterópteros de tres áreas naturales protegidas en el noreste ibérico, con nueve registros nuevos y/o interesantes del Parque Natural de Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac (Barcelona), dos nuevos registros para el Parque Natural del Delta del Ebro (Tarragona) y cuatro registros nuevos o interesantes para la zona protegida de Planes de Son (Lleida).
