    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 30 ROUNDS COMPLETE IN 2010 AMATEUR DRAFT; CARDINALS HAVE SELECTED 32 PLAYERS ST. LOUIS, Mo., June 8, 2010 – The St. Louis Cardinals selected 13 pitchers, eight outfielders, six infielders and two catchers in the first complete day of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft. The Cardinals have picked 23 college and nine high school players overall during the first 30 rounds of the 2010 draft. The Cardinals second round pick and second selection to hail from Arizona State University was Jordan Swaggerty, a finalist for the 2010 Stopper of the Year award, an award given to the top Division I relief pitcher. Swaggerty joins ASU teammate and Cardinals second overall draft pick Seth Blair. Swaggerty had a 2.05 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 32.1 innings pitched in 2010 and holds the ASU single season saves record with 14. Other notable players selected by the Cardinals in the second day of the draft include catcher Cody Stanley of the University of North Carolina- Wilmington, outfielder Nicholas Longmire of the University of Pacific and outfielder Austin Wilson from Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City, California. Stanley was a first team All Colonial League selection this season and led the CAA with 22 runners caught stealing. He batted .323 with nine doubles, five homers and 32 RBIs. Longmire was an honorable mention on the Big West All-Conference team for the 2010 season, the third straight time his name has made the list. He led the team in doubles with 18 and batted .327 with five homers and 35 RBIs.
