ELBJAZZ 2018 WITH NINE CONCERTS AT THE ELBPHILHARMONIE – RESERVATIONS BEGIN TODAY

Hamburg, 8 November 2017 – Just like this year, the Elbphilharmonie will once again be an ELBJAZZ venue in 2018. For the first time, however, the Grand Hall will host concerts not only on the two official festival days, on 1 and 2 June 2018, but also one day earlier, on 31 May 2018. A total of nine concerts in the Elbphilharmonie are available for selection by ticket-holders for ELBJAZZ 2018, three more than in 2017. This is a reaction by ELBJAZZ to the huge demand from visitors who would like to experience a concert in the Elbphilharmonie. Reservations can be made from today, 8 November 2017 at 2 p.m.

MICHAEL WOLLNY IS THE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

A further special feature of the coming festival year: The first “Artist in Residence” in the history of ELBJAZZ will be installed. Michael Wollny (Photo), currently one of the greatest and most diverse jazz talents in Germany, was confirmed as the first office-holder.

The pianist will bridge the gap between jazz and pop later in the evening when he appears on stage with Konstantin Gropper, lead singer of Get Well Soon – fittingly, their project is called “Nachtgesang” (“Night Song”). The programme of Michael Wollny & Friends involves Wollny, Andreas Schaerer, Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien – a quartet that can certainly count as a supergroup of European jazz. The current edition of Jazzwise (November 2017 issue) puts it in a nutshell: “The brightest and most charismatic stars of their generation in European jazz”.

There are 1-day tickets for the Friday (1 June 2018) or Saturday (2 June 2018), as well as 2-day tickets (1 + 2 June 2018). The 2-day ticket (1 + 2 June 2018) costs 99.00 Euro. The 1-day ticket for Friday (1 June 2018) costs 55.00 Euro, the 1-day ticket for Saturday (2 June 2018) costs 69.00 Euro. (All ticket prices include fees.) Tickets can be bought online at www.elbjazz.de, via the hotline (+49) 040 - 413 22 60 (Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.) and from all of the usual ticket agencies.

The first 17,000 ticket-holders have the opportunity from today, 8 November at 2 p.m., to make a reservation for one of their preferred concerts in the Elbphilharmonie (subject to availability). All details on the reservation system can be found here.
