I hope this finds you all well and excited to get back to a more normal lifestyle. We are excited as we will finally get to meet in person for our Annual Meeting and Gathering of the Clans in August and hope you all make an effort to come. We haven't seen you all in over a year and a half and we are looking forward to your smiling faces and a chance to talk with all of you. Now it is your turn to come and get involved once again. After all, a Society is not a society if we don't gather! Make sure to mark your calendar for August 7th, put on your best Tartan and we will see you then. The Hunters' Tryst
The Hunters’ Tryst Publisher Billy Hunter C.O. Editor Bill Hunter 1st Edition—Internet November 2006 Dear Clans folk It has been sometime since I wrote to you all and hope to find every Hunter in good heart. I know you will join me in thanking all our Clan members who have attended Games over the last summer, for their support of our Clan and their enthusiasm and time and effort. It is very much appreciated. Being a member of Clan Hunter should be a pleasure and interesting. Meeting up at Highland Games is a great way to re-affirm our interest in our Scottish heri- tage, meet those with similar interest and have a good time. Recently, the St. Andrew’s Society of Manchester have invited myself to be the First lady Chief Guest of the Society. They are a very prestigious St. Andrews Society, which started in 1876. It is a very great honour for myself as Clan Chief and for the Hunter Clan. The dinner will be held on St. Andrew’s day, which is exceptional too. Next year. 2007, is our International Gathering at Hunterston Castle. It is also the celebration of the Hunters having been at Hunterston for 900 years It is interesting to think back to the days when the first Hunter, Norman Venator arrived at Hunterston, which was then marsh and woodland and to look at the Hunters now, who live in many countries. I’m sure that they would be proud that we have grown in numbers and still value our ancestry. -

Clan Lachlan Association Newsletter Fall 2020, No. 55 , Page 1 The Rowan Tree Number 55 Clan Lachlan Association of Canada Inc. www.clanlachlan.ca Hon. Patron, Euan Maclachlan of Maclachlan, Chief of Clan Lachlan President's Message Greetings Clan Members, Hope this finds you & yours well in these tumultuous epidemic times. It is astonishing how quickly “work at home” and “social distancing” have become part of our lives. On-line sales and delivery are booming. On-Line Learning is becoming standard for institutions from schools to universities. Zoom and other APPS are making world-wide meetings in person a reality. I have some comments on the Society in this epidemic world. Notice there is no reference to branch membership. The society can run with no reference to Branches whose main advantage is organizing meetings which require a physical presence, say a clan tent at a gathering. Fund raising is through the Lachlan Trust of Scotland and Lachlan Trust of Canada. Major funding sources have been Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Fund-raising by Clan members is important as these bodies require evidence of public participation and support from “ancestral” tourists. (Note that Tax relief is only available for Donors who pay UK taxes) Clan Lachlan Association of Canada 80% of membership fees are made as donations to the Lachlan Trust of Canada and receive a Tax Credit if you pay Canadian Tax. You only receive a tax credit for expenditures directly incurred for work on the Old Castle Lachlan site. We will compute the amounts involved and issue cumulative tax credits in 2021.
