It is the responsibility of exhibitors to ensure that grooms entering the Show Ring are smartly and professionally turned out. Grooms must wear a hat when in the ring; if not they will be asked to leave the ring.

ROYAL INTERNATIONAL 2022 (“RIHS”) - Classes 2 – 8 The Society designates certain Shows as qualifying shows for the RIHS at which horses may qualify for the RIHS in the current year or at specific Shows for the following year. At these Shows the two highest placed horses in the Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Small and Ladies (side ) Classes will qualify to enter at the RIHS. No horse lower than second will qualify. All regulations applicable to HOYS qualifiers will apply also to RIHS qualifiers. In the Working Hunter Class the three highest placed horses will qualify unless they have already done so. No horse lower than third will qualify. If there is a Working Hunter Championship made up of the first and second prize winners from the light and heavyweight working hunter Classes respectively, these four horses will qualify for RIHS unless they have already done so. Where there is only one amateur ridden hunter class the two highest placed smalls, the two highest placed lightweights, the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. When there are two classes, in the lightweight section, the two highest placed smalls and the two highest placed lightweights will qualify and in the heavyweight section the two highest placed middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify.

Class 1 - Novice Hunters Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over, not having won a First Prize of £60 or a total of £200 (or equivalent values) in prize money in any SHB(GB) affiliated Hunter Classes at home or abroad, before 1st January in the current year, excepting all prize money awarded as a four year old. Any horse that qualifies for H.O.Y.S. in a Ridden Hunter Class (not including Working Hunter Classes) will not be eligible to compete in Novice Classes from 1st January the following year but horses that qualified for HOYS as a 4 year old are exempt.

Class 2 - Lightweight Hunters - (RIHS 2022) Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over, capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs, [12 stone 7lbs].

Class 3 - Middleweight Hunters - (RIHS 2022) Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over capable of carrying 79.5kgs, [12 stone7lbs] and not exc 89kgs [14 stone].

Class 4 - Heavyweight Hunters. - (RIHS 2022) Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over capable of carrying over 89kgs, [14 stone].

Class 5 - Small Hunter - (RIHS 2022) Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over exc 148cms but not exc 158 cms. Animals cannot compete in a small Hunter and a weight Class.

Class 6 - Amateur Lightweight Hunters (including small amateur hunter)- (RIHS 2022) Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over, capable of carrying up to 79.5kgs, [12 stone 7lbs].

FLAT RIDDEN CLASS a) This class is for 4, 5 & 6 year old athletic horses that have the conformation and movement to go to the top of their sphere. b) All horses must exceed 148cm (14.2hh approx). c) Riders must have proof of horse’s age (ie registration document, passport). Riders and Owners have to be members of SHB(GB). d) All ages date from 1 January, eg a foal becomes a yearling on the first day of January following that of its birth. e) Horses will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot and canter, of approx 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Lengthened strides in trot and canter must be shown. Marks for type and temperament will be awarded out of a possible 20. f) All horses are required for a conformation assessment, to be awarded marks out of a possible 50. g) All entries in Sport Horse classes must be on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book, owners and riders need to be current SHB(GB) members. Day Ticket = £36 This entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show. Bitless bridles and Wilkie snaffles are not allowed. i) Martingales are not allowed but neck straps are permitted. j) Horses will enter the ring as a class and be seen in walk, trot and canter before being called in and asked to do an individual show. k) Competitors must wear a skull cap or hat and safety harness according to the current approved BSI or European Standard at all times. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover.

SHB(GB) (IN THE NORTH WEST) - RIDDEN POINTS COMPETITION Ridden Sports Horse classes are included in the SHB(GB) in the North West Ridden Points Competition. Points will be awarded to 1st - 4th place. Horses must be registered or over stamped with SHB(GB) to qualify. An award will be made to the horse attaining the highest number of points overall.

Class 10 - FOUR, FIVE & SIX YEAR OLD FLAT RIDDEN SPORT HORSE Horses to be shown on the flat, will not be required to jump. Snaffle bridles must be worn. Note. Horses have to be registered with SHB(GB). Owners & Riders have to be SHB (GB) Members. Horses will not be ridden by the judge but will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot & canter of approximately 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Class 11 - OPEN RIDDEN SPORTS HORSE (Unaffiliated) - Mare or Gelding 4 yrs old and over, any height

AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE COBS, HACKS AND RIDING HORSES

Held under the rules of the British Show Horse Association. Owners, Riders and Horses must be registered or have temporary membership with a Day Ticket. Horses registered with the Association must be Owned, Exhibited and Ridden by current BSHA Members. Riders must be 15 years of age or older. Registration numbers must be quoted on entry form. DAY TICKETS Non-Members may purchase up to a maximum of 2 Day Tickets per Exhibitor, per Horse per rider, Per season.

A Day Ticket will allow entry into Amateur, Home Produced, In-, Novice, Working, Young Rider and Open Affiliated classes only, but will NOT allow entry into RIHS or HOYS qualifying classes. Horses registered on a Day Ticket do not require a JMB height certificate. Competitors can apply for a Day Ticket by downloading an application form from the BSHA website. Horses competing in the Sport of Great Britain classes at their Affiliated Shows cannot compete in Hack, Cobs and Riding Horse classes at the same show, on the same day and vice versa. This does not apply to SHB (GB) Ridden Sport Horse classes. The three highest placed prize winners in all Open Affiliated classes will qualify to compete in the BSHA Classic Supreme classes at the National Championship Show 2021.

The BSHA offer a Novice, Young Rider and Amateur rosette in each Open class and a Champion rosette for each section (with the exception of Open Working Show Horse, Ladies Show Horse & HOYS Hunter classes).

Novice Hack, , Maxi Cob and Riding Horse. A Novice is a Hack, Cob, Maxi Cob or Riding Horse that has not won a first prize of £35 or more, or more than a total of £250 (including Championship Prize Money) in any showing classes excluding Working Show Horses, Best Trained, Pairs, Side Saddle, or In-Hand classes that were Affiliated to the Association, at home or abroad, prior to 1st January. If the category has changed from a Hack to a Riding Horse or vice versa, it may not revert back to a Novice if it has won a first prize of £35 or more than a total of £250 (including Championship Prize Money) in any showing classes that were Affiliated to the Association at home or abroad prior to 1st January 2021. Winnings as a 4 year old are exempt, unless that 4 year old has won an Open Ridden class with a first prize of £35 or more. Snaffle bridles may be worn for Novice classes. Novice animals must be Registered with the Association or Exhibitors must have purchased a ‘Day Ticket’ in order to compete in Novice classes. Animals which have been placed first at either the Royal International Horse Show or Horse of the Year Show in any ridden class, BSHA or otherwise, are ineligible to compete in Novice Hack, Cob, Maxi Cob or Riding Horse classes.

Amateur Status – a person is an Amateur for the purpose of classes run under Association Rules if he/she does not, during the current or previous season: (i) Engage in breeding, livery, buying, selling, dealing or hiring horses in a commercial capacity. (ii) Receive remuneration for employment in the connection with horses in racing, showing, livery stable or riding school (instruction at Club and Riding Club excepted). This does not include the suppliers of ancillary services such as farriers and vets. (iii) Own/Part own an equestrian establishment including but not limited to riding schools, events centre, stud or livery yard in any capacity, or receive any form of remuneration for employment at an equestrian establishment. For the avoidance of doubt for the purpose of this rule, immediate family members of an owner or part owner of an equestrian establishment who work or are howsoever otherwise engaged or involved in any capacity, whether or not for remuneration at the equestrian establishment, will be treated as being an owner or part owner of that equestrian establishment. (iv) Show a horse owned or sponsored by a company or a commercial firm, or act as a Brand Manager, in any showing classes, BSHA or otherwise, or a Horse for which his/her immediate family accepts livery or training charges from a person outside the immediate family concerned. (v) A competitor is not eligible to compete in Amateur classes on an Exhibit, which has been ridden by a Professional Rider in any Open classes, BSHA or otherwise, with the exception of Open Working, Show Horse and Side Saddle classes, during the current year and the following year, up to but not including the Royal International Horse Show unless the Horse has subsequently been re-registered under new Ownership. On the day when an Exhibit is competing in an Amateur class, Professionals are not allowed to ride or work-in the relevant animal. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse. (B) Amateur Owner/Amateur Rider. Open to Horses owned and ridden by an Amateur, (the Rider need not be the Owner of the Horse). This ruling will also apply to Amateurs who wish to compete in the Annual Amateur Points Awards. (C) Amateur Owner Rider/Home Produced. Open to Horses, which are either stabled at home or in a D. I. Y. yard and which since 1st January 2021 have not been shown by a Professional during the current season or stabled in a Professional yard at any time in 2021. To be ridden by an Amateur. This does not exclude Amateur Owner Home Produced riders having lessons at any time with an instructor, providing the Horse remains stabled at home. No Professional Producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the Horse.

This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse & Pony Society (UK) Affiliation no 21088 Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS (UK) nor must the horse or pony be registered with CHAPS (UK) to compete. However in order to Qualify both Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current showing member. Members to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship Show 2021 held on 12-14th Aug 2021 at Arena uk. Shows held on or after the 9th Aug 2021 will count as 2022 qualifiers. AINTREE INTERNATIONAL EQUESTRIAN CENTRE COLOURED HORSE & PONY OF THE YEAR CHAMPIONSHIP, SPONSORED BY CHAPS (UK) SATURDAY 19TH JUNE - INTERNATIONAL INDOOR ARENA TO FOLLOW THE OPEN COLOURED CLASSES

This competition is open to mares, geldings and CHAPS (UK) graded stallions, four years old or over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of the stud books of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society CHAPS (UK) or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association (TGCA). Stallions are required to wear stallion discs in order to compete. All Riders and owners must be Members of the Coloured Horse and Pony Society, The Showing Register or the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association. For height restricted exhibits a valid JMB number must be lodged with the respective society. This class will be divided into four sections as follows: Section A Ridden Non-Native Ponies up to and including 153cm. Section B Ridden Non-Native Horses exceeding 153cm. Section C Ridden Native/Cob/Traditional Ponies up to and including 148cm. Section D Ridden Native/Cob/Traditional Horses exceeding 148cm.

These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk.

This is a Horse of the Year Show Qualifier, all data given upon entry of this class is provided to Grandstand Media Limited and stored on the Grandstand Entries System. TGCA Rules for TGCA Ridden Classes Full Bred classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show “TOYS”. Classes are open to all full bred traditional gypsy cobs. Part Bred classes, are open to all part bred traditional gypsy cobs and are qualifiers for the Part Bred Finals at “TOYS”. The exhibit MUST have one parent that is full bred traditional gypsy cob, a minimum of 50% breeding is accepted.

Stallions – All stallions (full or part bred, four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class MUST have be TGCA registered, have passed TGCA evaluations and their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle. Stallions and colts over the age of two, MUST be shown in a stallion bridle with a metal and chain lead as per the current TGCA rulebook. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non-members will receive a qualification card from the judge and have 21 days to join the TGCA and register their horse to validate the qualification. THIS IS A HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW QUALIFIER, NEC, Birmingham, 6th-10th October 2021. This competition is for Ridden Purebred Arabians. Owners of qualified horses must be members of the Arab Horse Society and the horse registered in their owner's name. The first and second prize winners from each section will qualify for the championship. The qualifying horse will be the highest placed horse, previously unqualified, exhibit within the Championship of the mare, stallion and gelding sections. Qualification will not pass below 6th place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. If a rider has qualified more than one horse, that rider will be allowed, if they wish, to exchange horses and ride each horse for its individual display. A groom is allowed into the ring to hold the horse whilst it is not being ridden. The exhibit must not have previously qualified and must have an AHS Q Card displaying the name of the horse. These classes will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from www.hoys.co.uk. Any person causing any damage, disruption or unwanted behaviour will be asked to leave the premises and will not be permitted to participate any further in the show. 6. Aintree International Equestrian Centre and Aintree Racecourse do not accept any responsibility or liability for any injury, accident, damage or illness to any person, property or animal whatsoever, or for any loss whatsoever, arising out of, or occurring at any competition, show or event. All competitors and attendees must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the officials and stewards. 8. Parents or guardians are deemed responsible for their children and they must be supervised at all times. 9. Please also note that the Collecting Ring area is for the purpose of warming up. It is strictly not a viewing or standing area, nor is it to be used by anyone other than those entered in the current class. 10. BRITISH STANDARD APPROVED HARD HATS MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES WHEN MOUNTED. Full and correct attire must be worn by all competitors when competing or hiring the Centre. For show all competitors and grooms, when mounted, must wear a British Standard skull/hard hat, which must be fastened. Failure to do so will incur elimination. 11. Any individual seen to be causing distress or suffering to any animal will be asked to leave the Racecourse and may be reported to the appropriate authorities. 12. No horse or pony under the age of 4 years shall be ridden at any competition. 13. Any persons responsible for a stallion must ensure that they are secure at all times including within the stables and the collecting ring, and correctly displaying the appropriate FEI approved ribbons and discs. 14. All horses and ponies competing or using the Centre must be fully vaccinated against equine flu, and must not have had any vaccination in the 6 days prior to attending. 15. Vaccination requirements for stabling may vary from time to time, as dictated by the British Horseracing Authority. Please see individual event page for details. Important updates will be published on our website and on our social media pages. 16. Horses and/or ponies must not be left unattended at any time when tied outside Horseboxes or trailers. 17. No horse and/or pony may be lunged in any area of the Racecourse. Strictly no lunging in the arena or collecting ring. 18. Competitors are requested, prior to leaving, to clean up any droppings, hay, straw or shavings from around their horsebox/trailer and to dispose of these at home. 19. Dogs must be kept on leads AT ALL TIMES and must be cleaned up after. Failure to do this will result in you being asked to leave the Racecourse. No dogs are allowed on the Racecourse track or in the stable yards AT ANY TIME. 20. It is recommended that all vehicles are fitted with a fire extinguisher. 21. Aintree International Equestrian Centre reserves the right to alter any schedule at any time without prior notice. Closing dates for all shows may be altered if the classes are full. 22. All entry and hire fees include VAT@20%. All entries and hire fees must be paid for in full prior to leaving the Centre. A £15 administration fee will be payable on any outstanding accounts or dishonoured cheques, plus interest. 23. No entry or stable fees will be refunded, unless the show is cancelled due to Covid 19 reasons. 24. Prize money not collected on the day will be forfeited. 25. If stables are in use for a show, a £20 cash deposit must be paid to the Stable Manager on arrival and will be returned once the stable has been inspected and has been fully emptied of bedding and hay. 26. Smoking is strictly forbidden in the stable area and in all buildings. Cigarette butts must be disposed of safely and in the bins provided. 27. All vehicles should be parked sensibly and enough room must be left for emergency access. 28. Any competitor who is considered by the organisers, stewards, judges to have received outside assistance without prior permission, will be eliminated from their Class. 29. It is the owners/riders responsibility to ensure that horses/ponies are the correct height for their class. 30. The decision of the Judge on the day in all classes will be final. 31. Photographs will be taken at Equestrian and Racecourse events by a professional, licenced photographer who has been approved by ARDL. Aintree reserve the right to use these photographs for advertising purposes to promote future events. No other photographers are permitted to photograph the event. 32. Aintree Racecourse Developments Ltd use Horse Monkey as their chosen event administration system. Entry form details will be added to this system to inform competitors that their entries have been received. If competitors do not wish for this information to be shared with our chosen entry system, then we will not be able to process and accept your entry. 33. Please also refer to our Privacy Policy. 34.
