• Electrochemical zinc /zinc-nickel plating - is an electrochemical process consisting of obtaining a resistance and homogenous protective zinc/zinc-nickel layer providing corrosion protection.

• Zinc and zinc alloys provide cost-effective, high performance coatings – with minimal change in dimensional tolerances. Together with trivalent chromium passivates and sealers , zinc-based systems offer excellent corrosion resistance, thanks to zinc’s electronegative properties to iron.

• The scope of covering by electrochemical zinc/zinc-nickel plating is :

 Protection of the main metal against corrosion and wear;

 Decorative finishing, where appearance and resistance are important features;

 Use as support for another electrochemical covering

Zinc Plating

Steel and iron components are zinc plated to provide improved corrosion resistance, more than 420 hours neutral salt spray.

The protection is largely the result of the zinc deposit acting as an anode to the base metal. This means the zinc corrodes preferentially to the steel, therefore extending component life.

The zinc plated deposit can also be passivated to produce 'black zinc' and 'zinc yellow' finishes.

For the zinc plating process we are using both racks and barrels, depending of part dimension and shape.

Zinc Nickel Plating

By specifying zinc-nickel, components can resist more than 720 hours neutral salt spray (ISO 9227 & ASTM B117)

The preferred alloy composition for zinc-nickel plating is 12 – 15% nickel, with the remainder being zinc. This alloy gives exceptional sacrificial corrosion resistance and can be readily passivated. To achieve this alloy, zinc-nickel is usually plated from an alkaline electrolyte.

Zinc-nickel deposits are passivated to further enhance the corrosion resistance of the deposit. The passivation system is based on trivalent chromium,

Finally a topcoat can be applied to the zinc-nickel plating and trivalent passivation coatings. The choice of topcoat depends on the application.

• The coating line is full automated .

• According to idem surface, coat type and requested coat thickness a recipe is created and stored on PLC memory.

• Depending on item that need to be coated, the related recipe (baths needed, timing, amperage) can be chose to drive the line.

• The process is kept under established parameters using a precise and accurate measuring machine, based on X-ray fluorescence (X-RAY Fischerscope XUL 210).

• The investment in the X-Ray measurement machine shows his efficiency throughout the coating process flow chart, including raw material inspection:

• The machine is used for the following tasks:

 Raw material spectral analyze . – the analyze is showing the percentage of each element from Aluminum (Al 13 ) to Uranium (U 92 )

 Analysis of and passivation baths. – the additions are easily made based on the accuracy with which the machine is measuring the solutions concentration.

 The measurement of the anti-corrosion coat thickness such as zinc on steel ,nickel on zinc on steel, or others similar.

• Our ISO 14001 certification is driving us objectives to reduce and eliminate the significant impact of our activities on environment .

 Selective waste collection is the basic rule applied in all company. We are collaborating with recycling companies for paper, plastic, glass and steel, stainless steel).

 From creation, the coating line was designed to work based on alkaline method , method which is more friendly with environment than, for example, the acid method.

 With the investment on the X-Ray fluorescence machine, we are reducing the consumption of the chemical substances needed to analyze the bath’s solutions concentration. - The X-Ray fluorescence machine is showing the analyze results without having to do a pretreatment on the bath solution sample.

 To reduce the wasted waters resulted from the coating process we are recycling the water using our own wastewater treatment station –it is resulting good water for the process and a lower zinc concentration of the final wasted water.

• The lake of qualified workers at the local level guide us to invest in the local technology schools.

• In this direction we started a very good collaboration with the “Simion Barnutiu” Technological High-School .

• As result of the first practical training contract signed in 2016, plant has opened its gates for a total of 9 students, for the school years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. They had the opportunity to strengthen their know- how in real work environment offered by a company.
