The scientific program is designed not only to have views and ideas shared and compared among gynecologists but also with oncologists and researchers in basic science. The scientific committee strongly believe in the “Multidisciplinary approach” toward the medicine and particularly toward the 3.30 pm Opening ceremony and Authorities greetings patient. The objective of this interaction is to underline that the “reductionist approach”, 4.30 pm KEYNOTE LECTURE even if still necessary, is not sufficient in the modern era to make significant prog- PAPILLOMAVIRUSES ress in applying the latest achievements in gynecology, oncology, pathology and AS CAUSATIVE AGENTS FOR GYNAECOLOGICAL molecular biology. In other words the “reductionist approach” is not sufficient to reach the ultimate goal: Improving cancer care in humans. Indeed , biomedical AND OTHER CANCERS science is moving more and more towards “a holistic approach” in the treatment Zur Hausen H ( Heidelberg, Germany ) of cancer patients.
