The Trestleboard The Trestleboard Although he began his over six-decade-long career performing in radio, Blanc is best remembered for his work with Warner Bros. as the voices of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Yosemite Sam, Fog- horn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Pepé Le Pew, Speedy Gonzales, Wile E. Coyote, the Tasmanian Devil and many of the other characters from the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies theatrical short films, during the "Golden age of American animation". He later worked for Hanna-Barbera's television productions, most notably as the voices of Barney Rubble in The Flint- stones and Mr. Spacely in The Jetsons. Blanc was also a regular performer on The Jack Benny Program, in both its radio and television formats, and was the original voice of Woody Woodpecker for Universal Pictures. Having earned the nickname "The Man of a Thousand Voices", Blanc is regarded as one of the most influential people in the voice acting industry. So far, the lodge has held our regular stated meetings, initiated four new brothers into the Craft, presented several 50-year pins, held a number of committee meetings and have even had a Zoom session to get to know some gentlemen who are potentially interested in petitioning our lodge. Not to mention, we have been enjoying fellowship while practicing the ritual together. Abiding by the guidelines set forth by the Building Committee, we are continuing to conduct the work of the lodge and are here for any brother who would like to participate and feels safe doing so. We are also planning a virtual Masonic education night in the coming months – more details to come. As the month of February is home to Valentine’s Day, I thought a good topic to cover is the notion of love. Love can take many forms and expressions. While traditionally, Valentine’s Day is celebrated between romantic partners, it is not to say that it cannot serve as a reminder of how important other forms of love and kindness are to each of us. One new way we are seeing brotherly love come to life in our lodge is through a new mentorship program headed by our Sr. Warden. He is actively pairing Master Masons with those who have petitioned the lodge to assist them through their degrees, proficiencies and beyond. Mentorships can lead to life-long bonds and friendships that only deepen with time. And it is my hope that all involved find themselves more engaged and richer for the experience. If any Master Mason is interested in becoming a mentor, please reach out to myself or the Sr. Warden. Hopefully, the risks associated with Covid wane considerably as the vaccine rollout continues. We continue to pray for the safety, comfort, health and prosperity of our Brothers, Sisters, friends and family. Remember, just reach out if there is anything you need. Your Brothers are here to help any way we can; but we can’t if we don’t know about it. I look forward to the next time we meet. Fraternally, Matt Link Worshipful Master Sun City Lodge #72 303-590-4192 ; [email protected] , From The West Greetings Brethren, We had a busy month in January welcoming 4 new brothers to the craft. Congratulations to each of these newly obligated Brothers and very much appreciate all that supported these degrees to make them successful. We had to move some brothers around and ask for some favors to fill out our slate, which highlights our continued need for brothers to take on additional roles. If you are able to do so it will be a huge help to the Lodge. If you are not sure where to jump in please discuss this with myself, Matthew, or Matt and we will be happy to assist you. I am continuing to search for mentors and am soliciting for volunteers who would like to assist in tutoring and guid- ing our prospective members through their degrees and proficiencies. If you are interested please send me an email and I will definitely match you up with a candidate. With the new year it is time to again make our youth grant for education known to our masonic youth. Any mem- ber of Job's Daughters, DeMolay, or Rainbow for Girls are eligible. If you know of any of our youth group members who wish to apply please have them contact me and I will provide them with the application and instruction. I am looking forward to another month of fellowship and brotherly love in the Lodge and truly look forward to see- ing each of you. Fraternally, Marcus Hensley SW SC 72 , From The south Greetings to all in the Masonic family, It is a privilege to be back to doing degrees for new members. As we move on to February, the Craft is blessed with more work to do in building up new men. Although we are still not able to have fellowship over food inside of the Lodge building at this time, there is hope that soon we may, at the very least, begin having coffee before a stated meeting, or a degree that starts at a regular time. I have been approached by multiple Brethren of whom request coffee if permissible, and I am happy to say that this is a likely possibility beginning this month per the W. Master. As the Junior Warden, I wish I could be more accommodating, spend more time with the other Masonic bodies we are used to seeing at dinner. However, safety is still paramount, and we certainly will continue to do what is necessary to keep the Brethren and guests safe per the Grand Lodge edicts and Lodge building requirements. As time con- tinues to move forward, I pray that we bring back the fellowship. If anything has come from this pandemic experience, it is to never take the time we have to fellowship for granted ever again. Its like our Brother John Wayne would have said, “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” When we are permitted to fellowship over dinner again, may we appreciate the time we have with each other, and remember the time we had to distance ourselves, and remember that day ended when tomor- row finally came; that we never lost hope, always kept our faith, and that our greatest achievement was the charity provided to each other in a socially challenging time. May the Craft enjoy time with their significant others’ this February, tis this is the season for love. Reach out to a worthy and distressed Brother. A warm greeting from a Brother can be as helpful to a distressed heart as a Valentine’s day card. I hope to see you in Lodge soon! Fraternally, Matthew C. Lawrence Junior Warden , Sun City Masonic Investment Trust –Investing In the Future When the Sun City Masonic Center was first established, a number of masonic related people contributed their time and resources to developing the building and property. Part of their efforts were to establish an investment trust to provide financial support for a place where Masonic related groups and activities could be conducted. To- day, the Sun City Masonic Investment Trust is administered by 5 Trustees elected for individual rotating 5 year terms of office by members of Sun City Masonic Lodge. The Chairman of the Investment Trust Board is Randall Sturdevant. Members of the Investment Trust must be members of Sun City Masonic Lodge.
