Since the fi rst Pan-American Cup held here back in 2013, Nathan Benderson Park has been synonymous with our sport, the beautiful man-made lake off ering an ideal stage for the athletes to perform World Cup Sarasota-Bradenton on, and this year’s weekend of racing is set to be the best yet. A packed Sunday schedule will see both the Elites and the Paratriathletes competing for World Cup glory. The sprint-distance course for paratriathletes comprises a one-lap swim before the three-lap bike around the edge of the lake and a one-lap run along its length, just the sort of set-up suited to fast and intense racing that is sure to bring out explosive performances from our athletes. These opportunities to unite the ITU family and highlight the best of our sport are precisely what have helped us continue to grow triathlon over the past three decades. Dedicated and exemplary local organizing committees such as that here in Sarasota-Bradenton are essential to our mission and, this year, USA Triathlon have also taken the unprecedented step of off ering the same prize purse as the Elite athletes for the ITU Paratriathlon World Cup, continuing to set the bar high and pioneer these important moments in our shared history. I would therefore like to thank the Local Organising Committee and all the volunteers, the city of Sarasota-Bradenton and USA Triathlon for ensuring all the ingredients are in place for another fantastic ITU World Cup. I wish all the participants the best of luck in achieving their goals, and would encourage everybody to enjoy this beautiful region to the fullest as it hosts the thrilling spectacle of ITU triathlon. Have a wonderful weekend. Sincerely, Marisol Casado President, International Triathlon Union IOC Member 3 Welcome from USA Triathlon President Jacqueline McCook and CEO Rocky Harris Dear Athletes, On behalf of USA Triathlon, welcome to the third edition of the Sarasota-Bradenton ITU Paratriathlon World Cup. We are thrilled to bring the ITU blue carpet back to the U.S. during an Olympic and Paralympic year, and we look forward to showcasing the world’s best athletes on the road to the Tokyo 2020 Games. USA Triathlon, with the support of corporate partners and private donors, is proud to off er World Cup Sarasota-Bradenton the fi rst professional prize purse in history for an international paratriathlon event. This is one piece of our larger mission to professionalize the sport of paratriathlon worldwide, and we hope to off er prize purses for all future ITU Paratriathlon World Cup and ITU World Paratriathlon Series events held on U.S. soil. Whether you hope to get closer to representing your nation in Tokyo, have an exceptional performance on the ITU World Cup circuit, or simply gain experience among a world-class fi eld, we hope you have a rewarding and memorable experience at Nathan Benderson Park. This fl at and fast course is sure to bring some exciting fi nish-line moments. USA Triathlon and our local organizing committee, the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc. (SANCA), have worked diligently to ensure all competitors have a fantastic experience here at Nathan Benderson Park. USA Triathlon would like to thank the many individuals and groups in the local community and elsewhere who have helped to make this event possible: the International Triathlon Union, SANCA, Nathan Benderson Park, the communities of Sarasota and Bradenton, Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Sarasota Police and Fire Departments, Manatee County, Benderson Development, and USA Triathlon staff and volunteers. We would also like to thank the corporate partners and local sponsors of the Sarasota- Bradenton ITU World Cup, who have worked hard to make this weekend of racing a success. We are grateful for their support and commitment to the multisport lifestyle. Thank you for joining us, and best wishes for a successful event. We hope you take some time to celebrate your accomplishments after the race to enjoy all that the Sarasota-Bradenton area has to off er. Sincerely, Jacqueline McCook Rocky Harris President, USA Triathlon CEO, USA Triathlon Board of Directors 4 Welcome from SANCA President and CEO Stephen Rodriguez Dear ITU Paratriathlon World Cup Competitors, On behalf of the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates, Inc.
