ALTA Member Airlines Passenger Traffic Increases 4.9% in August [Versión en español] Miami, October 2, 2013 – The Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) announced that its member airlines carried 13.7 million passengers in August, up 4.9% from the previous year. Traffic (RPK) grew 7.8% and capacity (ASK) increased 6.6%, bringing up the load factor to 78.1%, 0.9 percentage points higher than in August 2012. The number of passengers carried year-to-date increased 6.3% versus the same period of the previous year, reaching 105.3 million passengers. During the aforementioned period, traffic (RPK) rose 7.2%, capacity (ASK) increased 6.1%, and the passenger load factor reached 77.1%, 0.8 percentage points higher than the previous year. Freight ton kilometers increased 4.1% in August and 2.6% year-to-date. El trafico (RPK) se incrementó un 7,8% y la capacidad (ASK) creció un 6,6%, aumentando el factor de ocupación al 78,1%, 0,9 puntos porcentuales más que en agosto de 2012. La cantidad de pasajeros transportados acumulada a agosto aumentó un 6,3% con respecto al mismo período del año anterior, alcanzando los 105,3 millones de pasajeros. Durante el período mencionado el tráfico (RPK) se incrementó un 7,2%, la capacidad (ASK) aumentó un 6,1%, y el factor de ocupación alcanzó el 77,1%, 0,8 puntos porcentuales por arriba del período anterior. Las toneladas-kilómetros de carga se incrementaron un 4,1% en agosto y un 2,6% en 2013.
