The concert is funded by ticket sales and student activity fees and is sponsored by Eagle Entertainment, a student-run group responsible for bringing varied entertainment acts to the Georgia Southern University campus. “The spring concert is a tradition that celebrates our students’ completion of another successful academic year and the graduation of our seniors,” said Teresa Thompson, vice president for student affairs and enrollment management. “The performer is chosen by students and students take lead roles in the planning stages of the concert and on the night of the event itself. So not only do our students have the opportunity to enjoy the talents of a world-class entertainer like Tim McGraw, they also have the rare opportunity of working alongside him and his team. It is the kind of hands-on lesson in leadership that we work to provide our students as part of their Georgia Southern University education.” The University has hosted a variety of major entertainers and speakers during the past several years including former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, country music star Brad Paisley, popular rock band O.A.R. and Apollo 13 astronaut Jim Lovell, just to name a few. Georgia Southern University, a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University, offers 115 degree programs serving more than 19,000 students. Through eight colleges, the University offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degree programs built on more than a century of academic achievement.
