No.1 Spring Terrace is a Grade II listed Georgian building, set within a quarter of an acre of mature, secluded gardens in Richmond upon Thames.

Our popular double aspect, large ceremony room is air-conditioned and licensed to hold a maximum of 40 people. The room has beautiful silk flower arrangements, regularly changed to reflect the seasons, which will enhance your photographs. The room also has a music system, which can play CDs or MP3 players.

We have a comfortable, elegant waiting room which has French doors that lead out to our large, mature, secluded garden. This is an ideal location for photographs. The ceremony room is available for viewings during normal office hours. The building is open on weekends and bank holidays for pre-booked ceremonies only. You are welcome to visit, however, if there are no ceremonies booked, the building will be closed. If the building is open, and a ceremony is in progress, you will need to wait. We cannot make appointments for viewings. Alternatively, you can view the room via the virtual tour.

8 WHEN TO GIVE NOTICE

Once you have selected your venue and made the booking, you will both need to give notice of intention. You both have to attend in person; no one else can do it on your behalf. Notice can be given up to one year in advance and a minimum of fifteen clear days before the date of the ceremony.

For example, if you give notice on 9 September, the fifteen day waiting period starts the following day, 10 September and the authority or schedule may be issued on or after 25 September.

Please remember that some Registration Offices are not open at weekends and therefore if the issue date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the paperwork may not be ready until the office re-opens.

If you do not give notice on the same day as each other, you will need to wait a minimum of fifteen clear days after the second notice is given.

11 Gettingin married a church or other religious building

If you wish to be married in an Anglican church (Church of England or Church in Wales), then you must speak to the vicar to make your arrangements. It is not usually necessary to involve the local Register Office, or give your notice there, but the vicar will be able to advise you.

If you wish to marry in a church or religious building of any other denomination, for example Roman Catholic, Baptist or Methodist, you must speak to the priest or minister in charge at the building. They will advise you whether the attendance of a registrar

Last August we had our ceremony in the banqueting house at Hampton Court – a little turreted building on the side of the Palace. We live near it and see it every day.

We didn’t realise that we could have a civil partnership there and thought when we enquired that if they are all snotty then we wouldn’t bother. But their reaction was “oh that’s amazing” and they were great. It really makes a difference to have people that are gay friendly.
