www.peridotpartners.co.uk Trustees Dulwich Picture Gallery Recruitment Information Pack WELCOME Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the role of Trustee at Dulwich Picture Gallery. We are delighted you are considering joining us and you will be doing so at a pivotal point for the Gallery with several exciting and important new projects on the horizon. Dulwich Picture Gallery, founded in 1811, is the world’s first purpose-built public art gallery. We care for and display our outstanding collection of Old Master paintings within Sir John Soane’s pioneering architecture. As an independent gallery, we remain true to our founders’ purpose of presenting art ‘for the inspection of the publick’ while engaging as many people as possible, of all ages and backgrounds, through our creative programme. We are engaged in a continuous process of planning, delivery, evaluation, and development in order to unlock the Gallery’s unique potential: our location, art and people. Our mission is underpinned by our vision to be an inspirational cultural destination for everybody - unlocking fresh perspectives through the art of the past and present. I joined as Chair four years ago and appointed our Sackler Director, Jennifer Scott, in April 2017. I am proud to say we have a strong and comprehensive range of skills on our board, and individuals who are highly committed to enabling the gallery to flourish and ensure more people have the opportunity to engage with our collection and programme. We work closely and collaboratively with our energetic and forward-thinking leadership team and we seek individuals who are collegiate, and team oriented in their approach. We are now looking for two new Trustees. This includes an individual with the strategic and relationship building skills, high level networks and connections to proactively support our fundraising activity and someone with senior legal expertise, preferably with additional experience in planning. We are encouraging applications from people with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds to ensure the Board truly represents the community it serves. This is wonderful environment where we are collaborative, caring, and ambitious. We take great pride in our work and manage to have a lot of fun along the way! If you’d like to bring your skills and expertise to support us, we’d love to hear from you. Kind regards, Professor Evelyn Welch, MBE Chair of Trustees ABOUT THE DULWICH PICTURE GALLERY Who We Are: Dulwich Picture Gallery, founded in 1811, is the world’s first purpose-built public art gallery. Today the Gallery is a vibrant cultural hub hosting some of the UK’s leading exhibitions alongside its collection of Baroque masterpieces. Against this unique backdrop it stages a wide-ranging programme of public events, practical art and community engagement.
