Charles Monteiith D.O.B. : 02.13.2002 Home Team : Favourite NHL player and why : I don’t have a favorite NHL player, but I enjoy watching many of them play hockey. One player I think who stands out is Wayne Simmonds of the Philadelphia Flyers. He has scored many goals and is a big help to his team. He is a team player, is aggressive, will defend his teammates, and stick up for them even if it means fighting the opponent. Aside from being a strong hockey player, he is one of the NHL players who gives back to the community. In 2012, he started Wayne’s Road Hockey Warriors where he raises money to help other kids have an opportunity to play hockey who may not be able to afford it. Your goal (objective) by coming to the Tournament : I would like to go to Quebec, Canada because it would be a great experience to play hockey up north. There is a lot of competition, and I would like to be a part to it. It would be fun to experience hockey life in Canada and learn about their culture. I would also like to see and possibly play on the outdoor frozen ponds which we do not have the privilege of doing here in North Carolina.

General Manager / Head Coach

Shane Wiilliis

D.O.B. : Home Team : Head Coach Carolina Jr. Hurricanes Quebec Team Favourite NHL player and why : My favorite NHL player growing up was Cam Neely. Not only did he play and exciting physical style of play, but he was also a tremendous goal scorer. He used his size to his advantage and used his great shot to capitalize on plays that were set up by Adam Oates! Your goal (objective) by coming to the Tournament : My goal for this team and each individual player is twofold. One I hope each one of these players learns and grows as a young man and matures throughout this experience. The life lessons you learn and friendships you will make will last a lifetime. The second is for each individual player to realize the commitment and effort it takes to be successful at the sport of hockey. I want them to learn that it will take sacrifice and a full 100% effort from each player each and every day for this team to succeed. This will be asked of them in this tournament and throughout their hockey careers. Each player must develop a mental focus to compete each and every day to do his part as a member of this team to help us achieve success. This does not guarantee we will win every game, but this we will allow us to be proud of how we represented the Jr. Hurricanes and the rest of the North Carolina youth hockey players. You have been chosen as the best of the best from North and South Carolina. Take pride in that and go out and play like Champions!

23

Assistant Coach

Briian Mehm

D.O.B. : Home Team : Favourite NHL player and why : My favorite NHL player is anyone Wyatt tells me is my favorite player on any given day. Your goal (objective) by coming to the Tournament : My goal for this tournament experience is three fold. First and foremost, as I do every year, my primary goal is to ensure that 18 young men and their families have the best experience they possibly can in Quebec City. I want to make sure everyone has the same amazing opportunities that I had as a participant as well as a coach for the last 14 years. Second, I want to team these players how to prepare and compete like champions so when they return home they always remember the lessons of preparation, effort and attitude. Finally, my goal this year specifically is to work with our new billeting families to help them feel a part of the family we have built. I hope to get to at least 2 of their houses for dinner and work to rebuild the amazing team of billets we have enjoyed since our start!

24

Assistant Coach

Miitch Hodgkiiss

D.O.B. : Home Team : Favourite NHL player and why : Nathan Gerbe. With the struggles the Canes have had this year, I know when I am watching the game I can count on Gerbe to be consistent in his effort. He works hard every shift, consistently moving his feet and playing much "bigger" than he really is. You have to give a guy of his stature credit to play as hard as he does. Your goal (objective) by coming to the Tournament : Going in to my 8th year as a coach for the Jr Canes Quebec Team, my goal remains the same as each of the previous years. Do my best to make sure the players have the one of the greatest experiences of their lives and help them to create memories that will last a lifetime

25

Trainer

Jean-Françoiis (Jeff) Desfossés

D.O.B. : 12.25.81 Home Team : Favourite NHL player and why : Mario Lemieux. He was a great player, possibly the best when I was young. He was the player I wanted to be and to this day I still wear his number as my favorite number. Your goal (objective) by coming to the Tournament : : To help the players with their medical needs, big or small. Hopefully nothing major and only bandaging and fixing blisters! :-)

26

Billet Captain

Alaiin Desfossés

D.O.B. : 11.29.1955 Home Team : Favourite NHL player and why : Nathan Gerbe. He his proving that you don’t have to be big to play in the NHL. By working hard you can get where you want and believing in yourself. Your goal (objective) by coming to the Tournament : After 14 years as Billet Captain with the team my goal has never changed since the beginning. It is to make sure that players, Coaches, parents and the Billeting families will have the greatest souvenir and will talk about it for long time.
