See what our students and employers have to say about work placement...

Julie Watson from Ashgate Hospice said: “At the beginning of Levi’s placement, she was understandably a bit reserved. However, as the weeks went by, she really came out of her shell. She integrated very well into the office and had friendly conversations with members of different teams and was a pleasure to have around.

“Levi is clearly a very intelligent girl and this shone through in her quality of work. Every task that I gave her, she worked on extremely quickly and to a very high standard. Every member of the team was so impressed by the quality of the work that Levi was producing for us. One project that Levi worked on was to design some graphics for us to use for a timeline that will be produced on one of the walls at the hospice - which will be able for visitors to the hospice to see for years to come - and we will definitely be incorporating some of her designs.”

Levi Lilleyman, who is on BTEC National Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production (Digital Design), went to Ashgate Hospice for her placement.

Each year we focus on organising A Level trips out to visit universities to give students a real feel for being within a university setting. It helps put any concerns to rest, gives them the chance to see students who are already enjoying university life, talk to lecturers and explore the campus for themselves. There have been a number of trips to the various colleges within the University of Cambridge, which has been a big hit with learners – showing them that even one of the most high-ranking universities in the world is very much an option to them if they work hard and achieve the grades. This year Maddie Stanton-Wales enjoyed her trip to Christ’s College, Cambridge and she took some photographs while she was there. Maddie said: “Going to Christ’s College made the whole idea of applying to prestigious universities achievable. I had the chance to meet a PhD student and get engaged in university style discussions. “I am interested in business management and I’m currently exploring degree apprenticeships. In the future I would like to own my own business in the food industry.”
