News Release For immediate release December 5, 2017 Free Community Jingle Bell Ball is this Saturday MARFA - Put on your dancing shoes, the whole town is invited to the City oF MarFa's Jingle Bell Ball! The community-wide celebration includes a Free holiday dinner, dessert potluck, canned Food drive, silent auction, and dance hosted by Mayor Ann Marie NaFziger and city staFF this Saturday, December 9 at the USO building. Festive attire is encouraged and dinner begins at 6:00 pm. Tamales by OFFicer Gil Carillo and chili verde con carne by DelFin Lopez will be served, with sides prepared by city staFF and council members. Folks are welcome to bring beverages oF their choice; water and iced tea will be available. Please bring a dessert to share. There will be plenty oF activities For kids under the direction oF local artists and educators Michael Roch and Adele Powers of Chinati Foundation, from 6 – 7:30 pm. Burt Compton, oF MarFa Gliders and the Moondogs, will lead willing participants in Christmas carols. (Not to worry, he’s got song lyrics in case you don’t know all oF the verses and has lots oF jingle bells For accompaniment.) MarFa Public Schools’ very own Ballet Folklorico will perForm at 7:15 pm, with traditional music and dancing. Santa Claus arrives at 8:00, escorted by MarFa Police ChieF Estevan Marquez. Those who like can share their wish list or have pictures taken with Saint Nick. DJ Lesley Brown Villarreal will start the dance music around 8:00 pm. Count on council member Brit Webb, who reportedly just bought a brand new pair oF dancing shoes, to keep things lively on the dance Floor until 11:00 pm. Please note, all events are Free oF charge, with a suggested donation oF non-perishable Food items For the MarFa Food Pantry. A donation area will be set up in the USO entrance with Mayor Pro- Tem Manuel Baeza and Council Member Genevieve Bassham collecting canned Food and other items. Suggested items to donate include canned Fish or meat; peanut butter; canned vegetables (especially corn, beans, and green beans;) and dried pasta or rice. There will be a silent auction table with overnight stays at local hotels, giFt cards, and items From over twenty local businesses available For bid, with all proceeds beneFitting the Food Pantry. Subscribe Past Issues Newsletter December 2019 Issue 27 Dear <<First Name>>, Firstly we want to wish a very happy 2020 to you all! We hope you all had a lovely time celebrating the New Year and a fabulous Christmas. We would like to thank all our staff who worked over Christmas and New Year. We know the families were very grateful, and thank you to the families for embracing the staff at this time. We would also like to thank everyone who sent lovely Christmas gifts to the office we really appreciate them. We had a great time in the office in the build up to Christmas. Christine ran trial activity sessions making Christmas decorations and presents which was attended by a variety of people. There was a great atmosphere and brilliant presents were made. Thank you to all who attended and to the staff who made it happen! Please look at the photos in the newsletter to see the enjoyment had by all! This month sees more staff training in the office and we welcome you all to attend and partake with enthusiasm as always! Thank you to our trainers who have loyally supported our staff development throughout the year, Raphella Derrick, DG Medics and Bailey Training. It’s hard to believe we are into the New Year already. Headline acts have included Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Janet Jackson so far. Jingle Bell Ball is hosted by 95.8 Capital FM presenters Johnny Vaughan, Lisa Snowdon, Richard Clarke and Kat Shoob. A portion of ticket sales profit is donated to Help a London Child, 95.8 Capital FM's flagship charity. 95.8 Capital FM’s Help a London Child is a grant giving charity, which provides practical and lasting support to thousands of youngsters aged 18 and under. Jingle Bell Ball was first time held on 8 December 2008, sponsored by the London Lite and Zavvi; and Rihanna was the headline act for it. Opening Verse The Waldorf method places a strong emphasis on establishing rhythms throughout the day which give a comfortable sense of order and security to a child’s life. One of these is to start your day (or your time together) with a short meditation called an opening verse. Choose a place which is clean and orderly; children are deeply sensitive to their environments and are unable to feel calm in the midst of chaos. Lighting a candle while you say the verse is customary, as this helps to establish a reflective atmosphere. Even if you choose not to do light a candle, the opening verse will be a transition for the child into your care. After you declare yourselves to be “ready now for work and learning”, you can blow out the candle and begin your day!
