River Health Roadshow Thanks to all who attended last week’s roadshow – it was a good turn out with an interesting, well presented programme, stimulating thought provoking discussion with a very positive audience. Any parent feedback is welcome. PET DAY It was a beautiful day for pet day this morning! There was an amazing array of well-behaved animals on show; budgies, guinea pigs, turtles, sheep, goats, ponies, dogs, rabbits…and of course, Winnie the Pooh came along too! Thank you to the Student Councillors who ran the show and the parents who came along with your pets and supported Pet day. Inca & Taco, Santa (Henry) & Max, Batman (Alex) & Poppy, Arabella & Wilbur – just some of the characters here at Pets Day this morning! SWIMMING POOL Hooray the weathers’ warming up and the pool is looking more inviting! A few people have asked when the pool is going to be open so here is the plan: The Triathlon club runs every Tuesday from this week and those who are in the club will use the pool at lunchtime under Glenn’s supervision. The pool will open for class swims and pool key sales in Week 8 from Monday 28 November so bring togs to school from then on. Thanks to subsidies from Festival funds, the Board of Trustees have decided the cost of a swimming pool key for the season this year will remain at $40, with $10 refunded on return of your key at the end of the season. A Keyholders agreement is to be signed before a key can be purchased from the office. Thank you to Yvette who will offer a programme of swimming lessons – watch this space for more details in future newsletters. GABRIEL THE HARBOUR MASTER Congratulations to Gabriel who won the colouring competition in his age group to become Harbour Master for a day! Well done Gabriel! TRIATHLON CLUB EVERY TUESDAY LUNCHTIME Triathlon club is open to all students at no cost – Thanks Glenn! If you want to have a go, bring along your bike, togs and running shoes on Tuesdays. We need 10 students to enter a school group into the Nelson Weetbix Tryathlon on 12 March 2017 group, which Glenn will also coordinate. (Participation in the Triathlon Club does not mean you have to enter the Weetbix Tryathlon). Queries? Phone Glenn 02040819932 TOUCH REPORT Junior touch is going well, with Sam being awarded Player of the Day for his speed and stamina – well done Sam! Our Intermediate team is lacking in players and this week we have subbed in a couple of our Year 6 boys. More Y3-5 players are needed for us to score points in this competition – particularly girls! Senior Eels play at 4pm this afternoon. The Steppers play at 4.30pm. We have 2 senior teams so it would be good to work together if one team is short one week. Talk to each other! Bronson having a ball Hooray for the Ngatimoti Nippers! Parents Group Meeting Friday 4 November Thanks to all who attended this meeting, it was a positive reflection of festival day and the organisation with heaps of feedback and constructive suggestions received. Further meetings will decide our spending priorities and if you have an opinion please send suggestions to the office. If you would like to see a copy of the minutes ask Amanda. Parent Groups next job is to help with end of year celebrations for Year 8s and decorate the Memorial Hall for the final assembly on Thursday 15 Dec. ABEL TASMAN CYCLE CHALLENGE Abel Tasman Cycle Challenge is being held on Saturday 3 December. The 158km course starts at Saxton Field and heads out to Brightwater, Moutere, Westbank Road, Riwaka, Marahau, Kaiteriteri, Motueka, Tasman, Mapua, Appleby and then back to Saxton Field. There are riders of all ages and abilities, with some doing the event in a team, some doing half, or some doing the Nifty 50 from Riwaka. For more information go to www.atcc.nz . The event would like to encourage as much of the local community to be involved as possible. We are looking for marshals to direct the riders around the course. Depending on the location, marshals will be required in and around Ngatimoti from between 8.00am - 11.15am (depending on when the last rider passes them). A briefing will be held for all volunteers on Sunday 27th November at 3pm and Monday 28th at 7pm at Saxton field. The event would be able to donate $15 per volunteer to Ngatimoti School, or a school sports team that is fundraising, as a thank you for assistance. The marshal locations for Ngatimoti are: Motueka River West Bank/Graham Valley 8:00am - 10:45am Motueka River West Bank/Alexander Bluff Rd 8:15am - 11:15am There are 67 marshals required in total for the event. There are eight (8) volunteers required for the Alexander Bluff/West Bank Rd changeover station. This is also the start of the "Second Half" ride also, where riders will be shuttled to the changeover station to ride the final 88km back in to Saxton Field. Volunteers here will be asked to assist with car parking; aid stations and helping the riders get ready to start.
