Imagine Dragons Discography Torrent Imagine dragons discography torrent Continue Imagine Dragons is a rock band formed in 2008 by Dan Reynolds, their current vocalist. But it wasn't until 2012 that the band received recognition for their album Night Visions, their debut studio album. Their single Radioactive from the aforementioned album was named Rolling Stone magazine's biggest rock hit of 2013 and the band as a revelation of 2013. Undoubtedly, the main musical feature of Imagine Dragons is the combination of sounds that are in his music, because it can feel the dissolution of different genres that play in the song. An example of this is the aforementioned Radioactive, which mixes rock and dubstep rhythms. After signing with Richard Branson's record company Virgin Records, 30 seconds to Mars released their first album, which bore the same name as the band, and managed to sell more than 121,000 copies in the United States alone. On their second album, A Beautiful Life, the band was well received; but it was the singles that resulted from this, the band found great success. The most successful of these singles was a single called The Kill, which for the first time on the Billboard Hot 100 chart set a record as the longest song on the Alternative Songs chart; while the single From Yesterday from the same album was placed in the first place of the same graph. A curious fact of the band is that it managed to enter the Guinness Book of Records by offering the largest number of concerts during the same tour, which consists of 311 performances during their promotional tour on the album This is War. Each of the symbols present in the logo representing the group has a certain meaning. The first is two intertwined numbers '3', referring to the number '30'; that is a circle with two lines coming out of it, it is a clock, and more specifically represents seconds or that is the same in The word seconds; then there are three vertical lines that seek to form a symbol of the number 2 in Roman notation on the white part, since number two in English is written two, the homophonic word to; Finally, there is a circle surrounded by two others, this is to represent the red planet with two moons, Phobos and Deimos. As rock journalism evolved in the 1960s and 1970s, so did two dismissive and misogynistic stereotypes about female fans: groupies and teenyboppers (Coates, 2003). While groupies were scorned in rock circles for their perceived hypersexuality, teenyboppers, who we can consider an umbrella term including boy band fanbases, were defined by a lack of sexuality and viewed as shallow, immature and prone to hysteria, and ridiculed as hall markers of bad taste, despite being driving forces in commercial markets (Ewens, 2020; Sherman, 2020). Similarly, boy bands have been disdained for their perceived femininity and viewed as inauthentic compared to “real” artists— namely, hypermasculine male rock artists. While the boy band genre has evolved and experienced different eras, depictions of both the bands and their fans have stagnated in media, relying on these old stereotypes (Duffett, 2012). This paper aimed to investigate to what extent modern boy bands are portrayed differently from non-boy bands in music journalism through a quantitative content analysis coding articles for certain tropes and themes.
