Patented in 1884 by the Lawson Card Company of Boston, MA, this is the earliest known baseball card game ever produced. This complete game/ set is still housed in its original thin cardboard packing (top flap is detached – box has a slight tear in upper corner). The item displays beautifully. Set consists of 36 cards with baseball-related designs (nine player images, nine “plays”, and 18 “perfecting plays”). The backs of the cards all feature a similar design – a beautiful image of a ball game including spectators in blue & white. Includes original instruction pamphlet and instruction cards. This is the first time we’ve ever seen a complete set in nearly 40 years of business. Box grades VG, cards grade EX overall.
