BRUINS ALUMNI GAMES: The Boston Bruins Alumni will play two games to benefit the Skate for the 22 Foundation over the upcoming weekend. The first game will be held at The Edge Sports Center in Bedford, MA on Saturday, November 16 at 3 P.m. against the New England Eagles Veterans Hockey Club. Expected to participate are Don Awrey, Rick Middleton, Reggie Lemelin and Darren Banks. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. The second game will be at the Rinks at Exeter in Exeter, NH on Sunday, November 17 at 2 P.m. against the Granite State Cannons. Joining the team on Sunday will be Bob Beers, Dave Shaw and Andrew Alberts. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. BEHIND THE B SEASON 7: The New England Emmy Award-winning series returns again this season to give fans an exclusive look at everything Black & Gold. Both the Bruins and Predators will complete their training camps in Europe and will each play in an exhibition match as part of the 2020 NHL Global Series Challenge. The Bruins will report to Mannheim, Germany, while the Predators will report to Bern, Switzerland, before the two teams meet in Prague. Halak is scheduled to start. He did not skate on the ice today so he’s recovered well. That’s the plan. And then, like I said, we’ll have a game-time decision. We may have to dress seven D tonight, take a forward out. We’ve kind of contemplated that going into the back-to-back – on the second night of the back-to-back, that’s something we’re mulling over. We’ll make a decision by game time. On the thought process of using of seven D… Back-to-back game, some guys it’s a heavier workload. You’re playing McAvoy upward of 25 minutes. Just go give – we have some smaller guys that it’s been a physical series for them. So, save a little wear and tear, put some fresh legs in there. The disadvantage of seven D is finding your rhythm as a defenseman. The second part of that is obviously up front, what if we get an injury to a forward? Now you’re really down to 10, so there can be some risk involved in the playoffs, especially considering the tight games we’ve been in like overtimes. That’s where we have to be careful. At the end of the day, one thing that has happened in the past is Connor Clifton has played forward. If he’s in the lineup he’s not unfamiliar with that.

Even talented coaches that oversee playoff squads aren’t immune to turnover. Last year, plenty of coaches got the ax: this year, plenty of new ones will get their first crack at the quest for Lord Stanley’s cup. But which coach will be the best in his first year with his new team? Here are our power rankings. 7. John Hynes, New Jersey Devils Hynes, who made his name as a coach for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, has a lot to prove. His record in the minors is impressive, but he’s now the youngest head coach in the NHL. 6. Peter DeBoer, San Jose Sharks DeBoer is the former coach of both the Florida Panthers and New Jersey Devils. He’s had mixed results, but he’s also had to deal with some really putrid rosters. His 2011 run to the Stanley Cup Final with New Jersey is the highlight of his career so far. The Sharks hope he can replicate it. DeBoer comes into a bit of a leadership vacuum, so motivation will be key. This squad missed the playoffs last year, but is in win-now mode this year. It’s going to be a tricky job. 5. Jeff Blashill, Detroit Red Wings Blashill is 41 and getting his first crack at head coaching at the NHL level.
