Mel Pearson returned to Ann Arbor, becoming the ninth head coach Rk Team Points Record in program history. He led the Wolverines to the NCAA Tournament in his first year behind 1 St. Cloud State 59 25-8-6 the bench, becoming the only coach in program history to accomplish that feat. The Maize 2t Notre Dame 57 25-9-2 and Blue won 20 games in Pearson’s first season, the 40th time the Wolverines have reached 2t Cornell 57 25-5-2 the 20-win mark. U-M finished third in Big Ten, and won its first round matchup against 4t Ohio State 56 24-9-5 Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament. The hopes of a second Big Ten championship were 4t Denver 56 22-9-8 dashed in the semifinals when Michigan was defeated by Ohio State in overtime. Marody was also named to the All-Big Ten First Team. Tony Calderone and 12t Minnesota Duluth 47 21-16-3 Quinn Hughes were named All-Big Ten Second Team, with Hughes also being named to the 12t Minnesota 47 19-17-2 Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Hayden Lavigne was named a Big Ten Honorable Mention. Sam 14 North Dakota 46 17-13-10 Piazza was also recognized, winning his second-straight Sportsmanship Award. 15 Boston University 45 21-13-4 16t Boston College 42 20-14-3 How Sweep it is 16t Bowling Green 42 23-12-6 The Wolverines have had six weekend sweeps in a season since the 2011-12 campaign. The 16t Princeton 42 19-12-4 sweep over the top-ranked Fighting Irish (Feb. 16, 18) was also the first time in program his- 19 Omaha 41 17-17-2 tory U-M has swept the No. 1-ranked team in the polls. Joining him atop the standings is Calderone, as his 23 goals are four better than second best in the Big Ten. 24 Colorado College 36 15-17-5 25t Western Michigan 35 15-19-2 Finishing Strong 25t Wisconsin 35 14-19-4 The Maize and Blue ended their regular season on a five game winning streak, and a six 27 Air Force 33 22-14-5 game unbeaten streak.
