This is the fourth collection, three discs full of glimpses of British history, available on DVD for the very first time. These extracts of time are wonderful and there are hours of entertainment in this box set all for just £20 including beautiful Rural Britain in the 1940s, A European Holiday in the 50s in a stylish Sunbeam Rapier, the Monte Carlo Rally (1965) and a 1970s film on the perils of being a motorcyclist. We are delighted to announce our line up to those of you lucky people with tickets for our festival in St Albans, The 7th Renown Pictures Festival of Film, Sunday 22nd March. Your hosts will be the gorgeous Vicki Michelle MBE and the charming Frazer Hines. Guests are Melvyn Hayes from It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, every mother’s favourite, Jess Conrad OBE and from Some Mothers Do ’Ave ‘Em, Michele Dotrice who will be interviewed by the very lovely Jenny Hanley. Dear Barry Cryer OBE will also be joining us on stage and we will be showing two unseen shorts, one featuring Dora Bryan OBE, the other featuring Bernard Cribbins OBE. There will also be two lost British films on the big screen: Who Killed The Cat? a brilliant 1960s crime film with Mervyn Johns and Vanda Godsell and The Turners of Prospect Road, a 1947 British drama film starring Wilfrid Lawson and Helena Pickard; both unseen since their original release plus vintage adverts and tributes to stars we have lost. Our dear friends Brian Murphy and Linda Regan will be officially opening the show and lovely Lola Lamour will sing some nostalgic numbers. There will be lots of stalls with film bargains and memorabilia, plus a tea room! Just a reminder that there will be no tickets on the door on the day. Freeview 81 Freeview 81 Film Club Sky 328 Film Club Sky 328 newsletter Freesat 306 newsletter Freesat 306 Virgin 445 Virgin 445 Our 8th Festival of Film returns to Stockport on Sunday October 4th 2020 for a whole day with celebrity hosts and guests, films and shorts all set in the stunning art deco gem that is The Plaza. Last year many people stayed in Stockport the night before and I know some weren’t sure what to do and where to eat, so this year we are holding a FILM QUIZ! Saturday 3rd October with Afternoon Tea at 1pm till 4pm or join us in the evening for Dinner and a Film Quiz 7pm till 10pm – more details on page 21. Tickets to The Plaza event on the Sunday and the Film Quiz are ON SALE NOW! They are limited however, especially the film quiz, which will be such a friendly event – come and test your film and TV history knowledge and make friends. It’s been a very sad time here at HQ as we lost our dear friends Christopher Beeny, Tony Garnett and Derek Fowlds to the great green room in the sky – all of whom have been guests at our events and have become friends over the years. We also learnt of the death of Alexander Davion from Gideon’s Way and of course more recently dear Nicholas Parsons and the multi-talented Terry Jones. All of these stars contributed greatly to film and TV history and we promise to do our bit to keep their memories alive.
