CAST BIOS STEVE GUTTENBERG (Nick Claus) – Steve Guttenberg was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Massapequa, Long Island. His feature film credits are both numerous and notable and include “The Boys from Brazil,” “Can’t Stop the Music,” “Diner,” “The Man Who Wasn’t There,” the “Police Academy” franchise, “Cocoon,” “The Bedroom Window,” “Three Men and A Baby,” “Short Circuit” and “P.S. Your Cat Is Dead,” which he directed, produced, starred in and adapted from the Broadway hit. Guttenberg’s television movies include “Something for Joey,” “To Race the Wind,” “Miracle on Ice,” “Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus” and “The Day After.” He is also an accomplished stage actor who created the lead role in the Broadway production of “Prelude To A Kiss,” starred in “The Boys Next Door” in London’s West End, and won acclaim for his performance in the world premiere of “Furthest From the Sun,” which Woody Harrelson directed and co-authored. Most recently, Guttenberg joined the cast of “Veronica Mars,” in a recurring role as a charismatic major league baseball team owner and leading candidate in the local race for mayor of Neptune, Calif. To show his support for the community, his daughter transfers from her private school to Neptune High. He also stared in the NBC movie “Poseidon Adventure.” Guttenberg plays Richard Clarke, a husband and father torn between a mistress he must save and the family he can’t live without. A fierce advocate for children, Guttenberg has two after-school specials to his credit. He executive produced the Emmy® nominated “Gangs” and directed “Love Off Limits.” His interest in the welfare of children inspired him to create Guttenhouse, an apartment complex that accommodates young people transitioning from foster child status to adult responsibilities. The Entertainment Industry Foundation selected Guttenberg to be an Ambassador for Children’s Issues because of his dedicated work on behalf of children and the homeless. In this capacity, he spearheaded Sight for Students, a multi-million dollar program that provides glasses for 50,000 underprivileged and visually challenged children. Guttenberg is an avid surfer, golfer and a devoted dog owner. # # # CRYSTAL BERNARD (Beth Marshall) – Born in Garland, Texas and raised in Houston, Crystal Bernard began her career in a Pepsi commercial. After appearing as a roller-skating hooker in the Garry Marshall film “Young Doctors In Love,” she joined the cast of “Happy Days.” She has also been a series regular in the hit television sitcoms “It’s A Living” and “Wings.” (more) HALLMARK CHANNEL / “Meet the Santas” Cast Bios – Page 2 Bernard has starred in a number of telefilms including “Without Her Consent,” “When Will I Be Loved,” “Miracle Child,” “A Matter of Trust,” “Dying To Be Perfect: The Ellen Hart Pena Story” and “A Face To Kill For.” She also took on the lead role of Annie Oakley in the Broadway production of “Annie Get Your Gun.” A songwriter since she was 14-years-old, Bernard has recorded two albums, including the hit single “Forever Tonight,” a duet with Peter Cetera, which stayed on the pop charts for 26 weeks. Bernard writes music, sings, dances, and adores her dog, Cody. # # # MARIETTE HARTLEY (Joanna Hardcastle) - Born in Weston, Connecticut, Emmy® Award winner, six-time Emmy® nominee and best-selling author Mariette Hartley has acted on stage, screen, and television for more than 30 years. Hartley has starred in films such as “Ride the High Country,” in television series ranging from “Peyton Place” to “Goodnight Beantown,” and she recently had a recurring role on “Law & Order: SVU.” Hartley is also know for starring in such acclaimed television movies as “M.A.D.D.: Mothers Against Drunk Drivers” and “Silence of the Heart;” and of course, in those many Polaroid commercials with James Garner. For nine frenetic months, she co-hosted CBS’s “The Morning Program,” and is currently developing a one-woman stage show entitled, “If You Get To Bethlahem You’ve Gone Too Far.” Hartley is the honorary director of the American Suicide Foundation and is active in many other organizations, including MADD. She speaks at schools, clinics and hospitals around the country. Mariette is also the best selling author of Breaking The Silence, an autobiography about hope and courage. # # # ARMIN SHIMERMAN (Ernest) - Born and raised in New Jersey, Shimerman’s family moved to Santa Monica, California when he was 17-years-old. Upon graduation from UCLA, he began his career as an actor at the prestigious San Diego Globe Theatre. After moving to Manhattan, Shimerman quickly began his Broadway career, winning roles in “Three Penny Opera” with Raul Julia, “St. Joan” with Lynn Redgrave, “Broadway” with Chris Sarandon, and Richard Rodger’s “I Remember Mama” with Liv Ullman. He then became a character actor of note in leading Regional Theatres around the country. He also received a Los Angeles Drama Critics nomination for his leading portrayal in Harold Pinter’s “The Birthday Party.” (more) HALLMARK CHANNEL / “Meet the Santas” Cast Bios – Page 3 On television, Shimerman is probably best known for his seven year portrayal of Quark the bartender on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He also played the autocratic Principal Snyder on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Other memorable recurring roles include “Brooklyn Bridge,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Practice,” “The Invisible Man,” and “The Handler.” Shimerman most recently guest starred on the acclaimed shows “Nip/Tuck” and “Invasion” and starred in the Hallmark Channel film “Single Santa Seeks Mrs. Claus.” Shimerman’s film career began in New York in Woody Allen’s “Stardust Memories” and hasn’t stopped there! The recently released short “Who Slew Simon Thaddeus Pew?” has garnered him several awards; and he most recently starred in the critically acclaimed “What the #$*! (bleep) Do We Know?!” Shimerman is also one of the lead voices in the animated theatrical “Geppetto’s Secret.” In addition to his acting credits, Shimerman is a four time published author with Simon and Schuster and a well-known teacher of Elizabethan Rhetoric. # # # DOMINIC SCOTT KAY (Jake Marshall) – Born in Los Angeles and raised in Malibu, California, nine-year-old Dominic Scott Kay has 17 films to his credit, including Steven Spielberg’s “Minority Report,” where he played Tom Cruise’s son. In “Loverboy,” directed by Kevin Bacon, Dominic was given the ability and challenge to carry a lead role at the age of seven, along side Kyra Sedgwick, Marisa Tomei, Matt Dillon, Sandra Bullock, Oliver Platt, Campbell Scott and Kevin Bacon. This year, Kay shot "The Duke's,” starring Robert Davi, Chazz Palminteri and Peter Bogdanovich. Kay is also an accomplished voice over actor and will soon be heard as the voice of “Wilbur” in the theatrical production of “Charlotte’s Web.” He has completed a number of Disney Feature Animations, including "The Wild," where he plays Keifer Sutherland's character as the young lion. He is also the Heffalump "Lumpy" in the new Winnie-The- Pooh video. Dominic's dream to become a director came true when he shot his first short film titled “Saving Angelo,” based on his real-life experience of nursing a Boxer puppy to recovery after finding it left for dead on the side of the highway. “Saving Angelo" starred Kevin Bacon, Eric Close, Dana Barron, Julie Gonzalo, and Dominic, who played himself. With strong musical talent, Dominic is already an accomplished musician, adept at playing piano and drums. He writes his own music and lyrics, and loves to play music with his father, Scott Kay, 'The Commodores’ drummer for 15 years. Kay is accomplished in karate, loves to bike, skateboard, surf and swim.
