SWINDON 0.0 0.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 02/04/2018 RESULT: RAINED OFF AGREGATE SCORE One of the evils that is slowly killing our sport struck Swindon for the second time within a week. Due to heavy rain that had already fallen over the preceding days and more predicted for Bank Holiday Monday, this cup encounter was called off just after midday on Sunday. New dates will be announced soon.

With the Bank Holiday forecast threatening to bring a version of ;s ;Wet Monday; to most of the country the decision was made to call off proceedings with a day to spare. RYE HOUSE 25.0 23.0 LEICESTER DATE: 11/04/2018 RESULT: MATCH ABANDONED AGREGATE SCORE The rain that turned heat 8 into a lottery finally got the better of what was shaping up to be an intriguing contest. The Rockets made an assured start but there were signs that with track specialist Michael Palm-Toft once more showing his liking for the tight Hoddesdon bends and Hans Andersen certainly looking up for the task Leicester could push the home side all the way. The Lions will certainly hope for more from Martin Vaculik and Krystian Pieszczek when they return to East Hertfordshire. The pair both looked off the pace in their debuts. In contrast Aaron Summers made the most of his first Rockets appearance powering from the start to win heat 1 while it seemed had never been away the former club captain returning the fastest time of the night in Heat 3. There are already signs that Kennett’s partnership with who remained unbeaten in his two races could prove a vital part of the Rockets armoury. Unfortunately the deteriorating conditions dictated there was little racing of note an increasingly greasy surface and poor visibility causing problems in the last few races. Heat 8 did provide an exciting spectacle with riders almost changing places at will but by that stage it was clear that the only winner on the night was going to be the falling rain which eventually gave referee Christina Turnbull little option but to call proceedings to a halt after talking to both team captains

WOLVERHAMPTON 60.0 30.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 16/04/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE Wolves showed no signs of rustiness as they opened their campaign with a crushing 60-30 victory over Rye House. Jacob Thorssell returned from the serious back injury he sustained at the end of 2017 with a five-ride maximum, and he partnered Kyle Howarth to four of Wolves' six 5-1s, as the man racked up an impressive paid 15. Wolves started in the best possible fashion, with Howarth slipping inside Aaron Summers entering the third turn and Thorssell joined him at the front. Rockets seemed set for a 5-1 in Heat 2 until Max Clegg slid off on the first turn at the start of lap three, as the Wolves pairing challenged him on the inside. It was Heat 5 before the visitors registered a heat advantage. passed Summers and chased after Chris Harris, but the former GP winner took the flag. Although Rye had three different race winners, they lacked top end strength, while reserves Stuart Robson and Clegg suffered a string of misfortune. Ashley Morris certainly enjoyed his return to Wolves' colours, claiming the scalps of and Krzysztof Kasprzak in his paid nine. He held off a determined challenge from the former British Champion in Heat 4, joining for a 5-1, and then took the flag in Heat 12 to defeat the former World No.2. Wolves finished with two 4-2s and two 5-1s in the last four heats. The race of the night was arguably Heat 15. Edward Kennett was excluded after falling on the third turn under pressure from an inside challenge from Howarth. In the re-run, Nicolls rode the young Wolves man wide in a robust first lap, but Howarth wasn't to be denied and he and Thorsell both charged under the visitor off the last bend of lap three to seal Wolves' emphatic win.

BELLE VUE 59.0 31.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 23/04/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE The final score does not reflect the challenge presented by Rye House at the National Speedway Stadium, with Krzysztof Kasprzak at the centre of some of the most exciting action on the night. The Rentruck Aces expected to be tested by the southerners and in all fairness to them, the Rockets' steely grit and determination did not translate into the results they were capable of producing. They were on the back foot before Heat 1 after losing both Stuart Robson and Edward Kennett to injury at the eleventh hour, and you can't help but feel things may have been closer had they been fit. But it was their struggles on which the capitalised, and then some, to take full control of the meeting with every rider recording at least one heat win during the course of the night. Fans were treated to a textbook examplbe of team riding in Heat 11 when acting captain reined in his cruise missle of a machine to shepherd Jye Etheridge to his first Premiership race win. And announced his return to form with a strong performance tha culminated in a frenzied cheer from the crowds in Heat 14 when he pipped Kasprzak to first on the line. But Dan Bewley was the man to steal the show, and the hearts of the crowd, after pulling off a similar feat in Heat 15 to seal his first well- deserved, hard-earned top flight paid maximu.

RYE HOUSE 48.0 42.0 WOLVERHAMPTON DATE: 25/04/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE The Rockets made up for a sluggish start which left them eight points down at one point to record their first win of the season. When Jacob Thorssell and Kyle Howarth burst out of the gate to take a maximum in the opening heat it was clear that Wolves meant business. Early victories for skipper Rory Schlein, and Sam Masters quickly put the visitors in the driving seat as the home side struggled with set ups. Only the returning Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen who comfortably won Heat 2 getting to grips with the conditions. The Dane drafted in for the injured Stuart Robson proved the match winner with a series of sharp starts. It was a 5-1 from Jakobsen and Scott Nicholls in Heat 7 that pulled the Rockets to within two points of their opponents. The second half of the meeting belonged to Krzysztof Kasprzak who’d made an uncharacteristically slow start. There was no doubting the Poles influence combining with the hard working Aaron Summers to level the scores after Heat 9 and then with Jakobsen to take the home side into the lead for the first time. After Thorssell had steadied Wolves nerves by outpacing the chasing Nicholls in Heat 13 Rory Schlein forced a last heat decider winning a tough dual with Kasprzak in the penultimate race. Having provided nine heat winners the visitors must still have fancied their chances of grabbing their first league win at the Hoddesdon Raceway. The Wiley partnership of Kasprzak and Nicholls had other ideas though using all their experience to shut out Thorssell and Schlein on the opening bends of Heat 15 to get the Rockets Premiership campaign up and running.

LEICESTER 53.0 37.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 30/04/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE Leicester delivered a robust performance against Rye House to finish comfortable winners. After conceding the points in the reserves race they were quickly on level terms with the visitors, who kept the Lions in their sights over the opening seven heats with Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen impressing on his Leicester track debut. After the second track grade of the night the points gap between the two teams began to widen with back-to-back heat wins fo the Lions. The next two races proved to be defining moments in the meeting that led to sealing the match. First of all James Sarjeant made a jet propelled start along with Hans Andersen and the five points in Heat 10 extended Leicester's lead. Then the visitors introduced Scott Nicholls as a tactical substitute in place of Jakobsen, who had faded after such an impressive start, and whilst the Rockets captain was first over the finishing line ahead of Danny King, behind them Krzysztof Kasprzak held third place. As they came around bends three and four for a third time Todd Kurtz switched his line to the inside and the manoeuvre took him past Kasprzak. Nicholls was out again in the thirteenth heat but he was only ableto split Leicester's pairing but by now the match points were safety in the bag for the home team. The penultimate heat was stopped when Jakobsen was a faller along the back straight and was excluded. The re-run produced the best race of the night between the impressive Krystain Pieszczek, who earlier had clocked the second fastest time of the match, and Kasprzak. They passed and re-passed one another until eventually Pieszczek pulled away but with the chequered flag in sight the Lions rider slid off to hand his fellow countryman a gifted three points. Pieszczek pushed his bike to the line to claim third place and rounded off the night by winning Heat 15 which earned the popular Lions rider the Man of the Match award.

RYE HOUSE 48.0 42.0 SOMERSET DATE: 07/05/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE The Rockets and the Rebels served up a treat for the big Bank Holiday crowd. Things didn’t start well though with Chris Harris and Jake Allen clashing on the first bend of the first heat, the Australian unfortunately taking no further part in the meeting. With honours even after the opening exchanges heat three provided an early contender for race of the season with Edward Kennett, Charles Wright and Jack Holder changing places at will in a titanic tussle for second place behind Krzysztof Kasprzak. Six points in front after eight heats Rebels Team Manager Garry May introduced as a tactical substitute in heat nine and even with all his experience the World Champion couldn’t have imagined what was to follow. After proceedings were called back three times by referee Chris Gay with Doyle and Kasprzak the guilty parties the fourth re-start left Doyle on the seat of his kevlars on the first bend. At the fifth time of asking the race was developing when Kasprzak dived for the inside going into the third bend and Doyle fell into the air fence. The heat finally concluding without the Australian leaving Richard Lawson to catch a jaded looking Kasprzak to keep the Rebels in business. With two points separating the teams going into heat 13 Scott Nicholls produced the move of the day to cut inside Doyle on the penultimate lap much to the delight of the home crowd. The celebrations were short lived though as Holder and Bradley Wilson-Dean forced a last heat decider with a maximum in heat 14. The home side made no mistake with the league points on the line Kasprzak making the perfect start allowing Nicholls to get the better of Doyle and Holder on the second bend to complete his paid maximum.

RYE HOUSE 48.0 42.0 POOLE DATE: 14/05/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE The Rockets came from six points down with six heats remaining to keep their 100% home record in tact. Poole who started the evening propping up the league table pushed their hosts all the way and were left to rue the mechanical fault that robbed them of a chance of a last heat decider. Heat 14 had already proved the most dramatic race of the night when the unfortunate Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen took a heavy fall on the third bend after locking together with ’s machine. With the Dane unable to take his place in the re-run Stefan Nielsen looked to have the better of Eddie Kennett and Max Clegg until his machine gave up the ghost on the last lap allowing both Rockets through for a match winning 5-1. The evening had started brightly for the visitors with Nielsen a leading light backing up Szczepaniak in Heat 2 and outpacing Nicholls in Heat 4. The Pirates continued to threaten with back to back maximums in Heats 8 and 9 opening up a six point gap. That though finally sprung the Rockets into life with the consistent Aaron Summers clamping Nielsen down in Heat 10 to set up Chris Harris for a home 5-1 which was quickly followed by another courtesy of a superb show of team riding by Nicholls and Jacobsen. The Pirates though refused to lie down Kacper Woryna producing one of the moves of the evening to fly round a startled Kasprzak in Heat 12. Nicholls victory in the next race kept the Rockets noses in front before the league points were decided in Heat 14. Kasprzak made no mistake from the start of the final race taking the outside line to victory while Worrall held off Nicholls to send the Pirates home with the point their efforts deserved.

POOLE 47.0 43.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 16/05/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE Poole recuit Stefan Nielsen took a huge stride towards securing a longer stay at Wimborne Road after starring on 11 paid 13 as Pirates saw off Rye House. The Bristish young gun was drafted in to replace popular local racer - a tough act to follow after a strong 2017 season. But Nielsen's heroics are set to plat a key role in getting Pirates' season back on an upward curve as he ensured they had plenty in reserve, with Mateusz Szczepaniak also starting to find his feet in Britain. The pair joined forces for a huge 5-1 I nthe reserves' race, before they grabbed a 3-3 behind Scott Nicholls - a man celbrating his 40th birthday - in Heat 4. Nielsen then followed Sundstrom home for a maximum in Heat 8, with the Swede - riding one of Brady Kurtz's engines against the Rockets - also showing real promise after a tough start to his Polle career. Nielsen had to make do with third behind Krzysztof Kasprzak and partner Kacper Woryna in race 12, and didn't get his chance to shine in Heat 13 after exceeding the two-minute time allowance. But he signed off with a brilliant 5-1 alongside skipper Josh Grajczonek in race 14 to secure victory for Poole and lift them off the bottom of the table. Rockets gave the home side a real scare for much of the night with Nicholls impressing on 13 paid 14, Harris getting stuck in for 12 and Kasprzak showing he still knows the fastest way round Wimborne Road on 10. With heavy rain earlier in the day rendering track conditions difficult early on, Rockets capitalised to pile on the pressure. But Pirates prevailed as they slowly build momentum ahead of the break.

SWINDON 59.0 31.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 21/05/2018 RESULT: HOME WIN AGREGATE SCORE Swindon registered their biggest win of the season by out-racing and out-scoring Rye House to establish a lead for the second leg that's virtually sealed their place in the semi-finals. The Robins heavily bombarded their rivals by recording nine heat advantages which included six 5-1's and both David Bellego and scored maximums. Rye House couldn't cope with the onslaught, a pace that was only matched by referee Paul Carrington who moved the meeting along at such speed that some wondered if Carrington was a pseudonym for the equally-swift referee of yesteryear. Frank Ebdon. Nevertheless, Krzysztof Kasprzak inflicted Tobiasz Mussielak's only defeat to register the Rockets' first race winner in Heat 7, which was followed by another victory from Aaron Summers. But this was less Kim-Jong-un and more Elton John for these minor successes could do little to stop the Robins' ascendancy. Bellego passed Scott Nicholls to follow Batchelor home for a maximum heat advantage in the ninth and then Swindon were assured of victory with five races to go. Through minor placings, Rye managed to hold their rampant hosts to three drawn races with Chris Harris pushing Musielak all the way. Swindon could have reached a 30-point lead had Nick Morris not been excluded after a tight third corner when he, Nicolls and Harris crashed. During last's weeks press conference following the Wolverhamption match, Musielak rasied much laughter when talking about their visit to Hoddesdon for the second leg when he confidently assured everybody that 'it will be fine, don't worry'. But I doubt even he could have forseen such an advantage for his team.

RYE HOUSE 51.0 39.0 SWINDON DATE: 23/05/2018 RESULT: HOME WIN AGREGATE SCORE 82.0 98.0 The Robins eased into the semi finals of the KO Cup despite an early scare. Obviously eager to make up for their poor showing in the first leg which had left them trailing by a massive 28 points the Rockets showed they meant business from the start taking a 12 point lead after only five heats. It could have been more had Edward Kennett been more aware of Nick Morris’s final bend burst which robbed the home side of another maximum in Heat 5. Swindon had to wait until the half way stage before they returned a heat win, combining with to shut out Aaron Summers on the opening bend of Heat 8. The resultant 5-1 cut the Rockets lead back to just eight point and proved the turning point in the contest. Despite Kasprzak taking the next race after passing Tobias Musielak on the back straight to stretch the lead back to double figures Swindon never looked in trouble from then. Three straight heat advantages for the visitors cut the deficit to just four points with three races remaining as Troy Batchelor and Adam Ellis sprung into life setting up the possibility of an unlikely away win. The home side hit back though after Morris fell in Heat 13 leaving the rejuvenated Chris Harris and the consistent Nicholls to record the Rockets third maximum of the night. Number four followed swiftly as this time it was Bellego who fell on the second bend leaving Doolan and Kennett to mop up the points ensuring a home win on the night. The visitors though finished in style as the lively Batchelor outpaced Harris to take the final heat.

RYE HOUSE 49.0 41.0 KING'S LYNN DATE: 28/05/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE The Rockets and the Stars served up an A10 derby treat in front of the TV audience as the home side held their nerve to maintain their 100% record at the Hoddesdon Raceway. Edward Kennett proved the star of the show for the Rockets returning his best score of the season and playing a vital role in the nights only two maximums. Firstly using every inch of the track to hold off Robert Lambert in Heat 9 and then cutting inside Thomas Jorgensen to back up Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen in the penultimate race. Providing the opening five race winners it looked like the Rockets might be in for a comfortable night but fired on by track record holder Lambert the Stars never let their hosts get out of sight. After Scott Nicholls had produced a superbly timed pass to overcome Lambert in Heat 4 the 20 year old won both heats six and seven. The Rockets struggled to get away from their opponents thanks in part to an uncharacteristically slow start by Krzysztof Kasprzak. The former World number two finally burst into life in Heat 9 taking the outside line to victory opening up a 10 point lead. The visitors though immediately struck back through Ty Proctor and the fast starting . When Lambert came through heavy traffic on the opening two bends to take Heat 13 the lead had been cut to just four points. With home nerves jangling Jakobsen made the perfect start to Heat 14 leaving Kennett to perform the heroics that ultimately won the match. Lambert completed an excellent evening by outpacing Nicholls in Heat 15 but Proctors inability to get round Kennett cost the Stars the race point their efforts had deserved.

SWINDON 48.0 42.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 14/06/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE Despite Rossiter's warnings, Swindon mistakenly seemed to think they were beyond the range of their visitors' rockets and were under pressure after only two races. Rye House had fired-up their afterburners from the off and the champions needed to engage their primaries - and soon - if they wre to overturn an eight-point deficit at the halfway stage. Couner measures were deployed in the shape of tactical substitute Nick Morris replacing David Bellego in Heat 9. The Robins' pairing made the start, and Nick strongly resisted Scott Nicolls' attempts to slip through on the inside on the second corner by forcing him onto the centre green! From the infield Nicholls signalled his displeasure in the ref's direction, and his protest that he had to take to the grass to 'avoid T-boning@ Morris had no influence on the official. Therefore, Swindon had closed the gap to four, but were now missing a pits telephone. Morris and Ellis replicated that maximum in Heat 10 to level the scores and both teams huddled together to discuss strategy for the remaining races. But the pep talk seemed to favour Rye as Michael Palm-Toft surged by Tobiasz Musielak on the second lap and the visitors were in front again. By Heat 13 it was all square through a 4-2 from Musielak and Morris after Nicholls had sliced past the Australian. Much to the supporters' relief, Bellego discovered his 'jene sais quoi' in time for the crucial penultimate heat and Zach Wajtknecht held second to record a 5-1 which put them in front for a last heat showdown. Chris Harris was shaking his head at the start marshal as Musielak was encroaching into his starting grid - later claiming that Toby's footrest was inside his box. Although he did come to the line, the refereee put the red lights on and the Pole was made to move further inside his own area before the race commenced. Swindon made the start and were in control, but the thrilling impressive Palm-Toft and Harris passed Musielak. Tofty was chasing Morris when he crashed on lap three and the race was awarded, which meant the Robins had stolen the choclate box and left Rye House with just the coffee cream.

KING'S LYNN 58.0 32.0 RYE HOUSE DATE: 18/06/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE King's Lynn prevailed in this 'six-pointer' between Monday's two basement clubs with Michael Palm-Toft taking the plaudits. The busy Dane returned 15+3 from seven reserve rides while Robert Lambert notched a paid maximum. The Stars had to do it without the injured Ty Proctor, while yound Dane Kasper Andersen fell in Heat 7 and withdrew with suspected concussion. It was just Lambert verses Rye House in that re-run and fresh from his British title triumph, he remained in a different class all night. Niels-Kristian Iversen, on returning to the side after resting his shoulder, hit the tapes in the opening race. Took a 15-metre penalty and finished third behind Lewis Kerr - now in the main body - who sped from the tapes to secure a home 4-2. the rejuvenated Thomas Jorgensen and Palm-Toft cruised to the maximum in Heat 5 after Krzysztof Kasprzak, firstly warned for an unsatisfactory start, retired soon after the first corner of the re-start. The visitors tried Scott Nicolls as a Heat 11 tactical sub. For Aaron Summers, but Kasprzak was penalised for a tapes offence and Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen replaced the mercurial Pole in a disatrous outcome for the visitors who conceded another 5-1. Tussle of the evening was Heat 9 between Nicholls and Jorgensen who briefly led going into the final lap before Nicholls showed his experience to triumph. Lynn bagged 2+1 points from rider replacement, including their No.8 Taylor Hampshire taking his bow for the season.

RYE HOUSE 44.0 46.0 BELLE VUE DATE: 20/06/2018 RESULT: RESULT VOID AGREGATE SCORE Never behind in the contest the Aces proved too strong for their hosts in a lively encounter. Craig Cook signalled the visitors intent setting the third fastest time around the Hoddesdon Raceway in Heat 1. With the Rockets struggling for speed a 5-1 from Cook and Jason Garrity extended the lead to eight points after Heat 5. To their credit the home side struck back Kasprzak taking control of the next race but Max Fricke robbed the Rockets of a much needed maximum catching Aaron Summers right on the line. Belle Vue will feel they should have taken a strangle hold on the meeting after Drozdz came down in spectacular fashion in Heat 8 with Garrity comfortably in front. The next race proved equally frustrating for the Aces Jye Etheridge falling after making his best start of the meeting. The Rockets made the most of their reprieve in Heat 10 with Summers holding off a charging Dan Bewley to back up Kasprzak. By that stage the scores were level at 30-30 and an expectant home crowd were hoping their side could continue their recovery and keep their 100% home record in tact. Heat 11 though proved pivotal as movement at the start resulted in Nicholls catching the tapes on the brim of his helmet. Taking a two point lead into the penultimate race Tungate’s burst off the second bend sent him clear of the chasing Robson to set up a last heat decider. Another blistering start by Kasprzak had the Rockets fans hoping for a last ditch reprieve until Nicholls uncharacteristic fall on the fourth bend gave the Aces their first away league win of the season.
