MG KX MOMENTUM RACING – Race Report MG KX MOMENTUM RACING – Race Report Media Information: 21st October 2012 The rain came down at Brands Hatch as the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) drew to a close, with the weather dampening Jason Plato and the MG KX Momentum Racing team’s championship charge. To win the championship in the team’s first season back in the premier 4-wheeled motorsport series was always going to be a tough challenge and the team put in a huge effort to take the fight all the way to the wire. Race one of the day saw the drizzle fall over the Brands Hatch circuit, as the BTCC field formed up for the first of the final three races of the 2012 season. The three championship contenders were line a-stern on the grid in 3rd, 5th and 7th with Jason sandwiched between his two Honda rivals. The race got underway and through the first few hectic laps it became apparent that the MG6 was lacking some pace in the wet conditions and was suffering with understeer. Jason battled away valiantly and brought the car home in 8th position. Andy Neate drove a solid race from the back of the grid to come home in 13th to add to his championship tally. Despite predictions for clearer skies in the afternoon, the weather had worsened if anything for race two. The Triple Eight team had worked hard to improve the handling of the MG KX Momentum Racing MG6 though and Jason gave it his all from eighth on the grid and moved forwards to chase the Honda’s down, despite moving through to 5th it wasn’t to be for JP as Gordon Shedden finished 2nd in the race to gain sufficient points to secure his maiden BTCC title for Honda. Andy came home in 12th position to score more points, having been involved in a number of close battles. Race Three of the day continued in a similar vein to the rest of the day both on-track and with the weather; more heavy rain. The reverse grid of race three put Jason in P3 on the grid, however the car continued to struggle in the damp conditions and Jason battled hard to come home in 8th and secure 3rd place in the championship; a remarkable achievement for MG’s first season back in the BTCC. Andy’s season ended on a low as technical issues forced him into the pits on the first lap of the race, which the team were unable to fix. Jason Plato (#99), BTCC Standings 3rd – 376 points: “Naturally I’m disappointed, I came here to win the championship and it hasn’t happened. But we gave it a good go this year and ran the Honda’s close, which is an incredible achievement considering the late start we had to the season with this project and. I’m very proud of every pole, podium and win we have had this season and we couldn’t have done it without the fantastic support of all of our partners and the superb Triple Eight team.” Andy Neate (#44), BTCC Standings: 16th – 79 points: “A tough end to a tough season, it has been character building. I managed to score some points in the first two races and the car was improving throughout the day and so to not get to fight it out in the final race of the season is a little disappointing, but that is motor racing.” Ian Harrison, Team Principal, BTCC Standings: Teams - 5th – 446 points, Manufacturers – 2nd 722 - points: “As I sit here now I’m very disappointed. But looking back we’ve won six races and had five poles so a great season, we’ve just come up a little short at the very end. All the guys in the team have worked so hard in this first year of the MG KX Momentum team to give us a shout of winning the championship today, it hasn’t quite happened but I’m very proud of what we have achieved and look forward to rectifying the situation in 2013.” Ends. For Immediate Release – Wednesday 16 th March 2011 SILVERLINE CHEVROLET CONFIRM THEIR RETURN IN BTCC 2011 Defending champions, RML Silverline-Chevrolet have confirmed they will make their much anticipated return this year to the UK's favourite motor racing series, the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. With the ever-popular pairing of last year's champion Jason Plato and rising star Alex MacDowall officially signed up, the team is looking ahead with excitement to the opening round which takes place at Brands Hatch in less than three weeks on 2 nd & 3 rd April. Joining the field again this year is the fiercely competitive RML-run Silverline Chevrolet Cruze which will appear in a different guise as Jason and Alex get to grips with the 2010 WTCC chassis, as raced to Drivers' and Manufacturers' titles with Yvan Muller, Rob Huff, Alain Menu and RML – the touring car giants of the modern era - in the FIA World Touring Car Championship. The Wellingborough-based squad has yet to unveil the striking 2011 challenger in full livery with the complete group of partners, which will take place at the BTCC Media Day, Silverstone, on 24 th March. But a successful test on the Brands Hatch Indy track last week alongside other series' front-runners saw the Cruzes run for the first time on UK soil in BTCC trim since their return from Macau last December. The team is confident they've got the package to beat with Jason, Alex and a technically advanced Silverline Chevrolet Cruze that looks set to be even more impressive on track than its predecessor.

  • Btcc Champs Bound for Birmingham
BTCC CHAMPS BOUND FOR BIRMINGHAM Hometown heroes Andrew Jordan and Matt Neal and fellow British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden are the first drivers to join the guest list for Autosport International 2015 at Birmingham’s NEC. With another big season in the popular Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship set to conclude this weekend at Brands Hatch, the Honda trio will appear on the Saturday and Sunday of the 8-11 January show, as Autosport International celebrates its 25thanniversary. Earlier this year, three months after securing his maiden BTCC title in the dramatic 2013 season finale, Jordan celebrated with local fans at the show. The Pirtek Racing driver started his title defence strongly, with a pair of victories, however a tough mid-season run at Snetterton and Knockhill hurt his chances. With four victories, Jordan is fifth in the 2014 standings heading to this weekend’s final round, and also claimed a podium in a one-off FIA World Rallycross Championship appearance at Lydden Hill. “Winning the British Touring Car Championship in 2013 is something I’ll always remember, and being able to share that with so many enthusiastic, local fans at Autosport International in January was special,” Jordan said. “While ultimately this season hasn’t gone our way, we’re already planning for 2015, and Autosport International will be a great way to kick off the new year.” Three-time champion Neal and 2012 titlist Shedden showed off their new Honda Civic Tourer at Autosport International 2014, with the estate attracting plenty of attention from BTCC fans. It has been a race winner in the hands of both drivers, with Shedden currently third in the championship and Neal eighth.

PRESS RELEASE 18 November 2017 Rounds 19 & 20 – TCR International Speedfest, Dubai – 17 / 18 Nov 2017 RACE REPORT Jean-Karl Vernay is crowned Drivers’ champion Pepe Oriola and Stefano Comini share race victories The 2017 TCR International Series’ final event at the Dubai Autodrome was a thrilling decider for all three titles on offer. Jean-Karl Vernay was crowned the new Drivers’ champion, while M1RA and the Volkswagen Golf GTI claimed the Teams’ and Model of the Year awards respectively. Vernay settled the matter in the first race and in his way: a display of clean and faultless driving, in full control of his only real competitor Attila Tassi and patiently waiting for the opportunity to strike the winning blow. That opportunity came on the penultimate lap when the Frenchman overtook James Nash for third, crushing Tassi’s last remaining hopes. Vernay’s success also meant that the alliance between Leopard Racing and WRT successfully took one of their drivers to the title for the second consecutive year. Pepe Oriola and Stefano Comini ended the season on a high note, winning one race apiece. Oriola proved that the SEAT León – the first ever TCR car – is still very competitive on its third racing season. Comini - who wanted to abdicate in style while handing the title to his former teammate – was tantalisingly close to securing the second place in the standings, but he eventually lost it to Tassi by a single point. The young Hungarian had high hopes before Dubai, but he failed to keep the title fight alive until the last race.
