Turn left onto Sha Wan Drive and continue downhill until you see the entrance to the University of Hong Kong Stanley Ho Sports Centre on your left By Car The University of Hong Kong Stanley Ho Sports Centre, Sandy Bay is on the waterfront on the west of Hong Kong Island in Pokfulam below Queen Mary Hospital. The road running along side the sports grounds is Sha Wan Drive. From Central you would either: • Drive up Pokfulam Road and take the right turn down Bisney Road. Then turn right on Victoria Road until you get to the traffic lights before West Island School, where you turn left onto Sandy Bay Road; OR • Follow the cost to Victoria Road which you join in Kennedy Town. After West Island school turn right at the traffic lights onto Sandy Bay Road If you plan to drive, then it’s best to park at the Cyberport then walk to the grounds as there is no general parking available at the grounds and you might get a fine if you park on the road near the grounds. HKU has strongly warned that cars should not be parked on the side of Sha Wan Drive as the police have warned they will be ticketing/towing any such vehicles. Page 2 of 2 .

ABSTRACT.-Analysis of the Hong Kong experience of adaptation to urban living can provide insights into some of the problems that can be expected to occur in the rapidly expanding cities of the Third World. Population densities in Hong Kong are among the highest in the world, exceeding 400,000 persons per square mile in parts of Kowloon. Research based upon residence in a worker's dormitory and interviews with workers reveals a variety of adaptive strategies employed by people to cope with the stress of the crowded urban environment. An understanding of the individual's ability to adjust to the stress of high-density living must consider the meaning of density as a concept in the culture in addition to social and cultural norms.
