Mac Demarco Presents New Single / Video, “​On the Square​” Here Comes the Cowboy​ out May 10Th Via Mac's Record La May 7, 2019 For Immediate Release Mac DeMarco Presents New Single / Video, “On The Square” ​ ​ Here Comes The Cowboy Out May 10th Via Mac’s Record Label ​ Mac Demarco presents a new single / video, “On The Square,” from his forthcoming album, ​ ​ ​ Here Comes The Cowboy, due May 10th via Mac’s Record Label. “On The Square” follows ​ ​ ​ the “wistful spring tune” (Rolling Stone) “All Of Our Yesterdays” and lead single “Nobody.” ​ ​ ​ ​ Over melancholy piano, DeMarco questions self-fulfillment: “Baby are you satisfied? / Is this all ​ ​ ​ that you had in mind? / On the square / living life that isn’t there.” ​ The accompanying video was directed by William Sipos and Sean Campos and stars Tommy ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ Midnight. “This video has been my most intimate experience with milk yet,” says Sipos. “At one ​ ​ ​ ​ point I had Mac in a latex mask, shivering in a kiddie pool filled with cold milk. I did not feel like a nice person.” ​ Watch “On The Square” Video - https://youtu.be/dPVVgVKCHKo The follow up to 2017’s This Old Dog, Here Comes The Cowboy was written, tracked and mixed ​ ​ ​ ​ at DeMarco’s Jizz Jazz Studios in Los Angeles during the first two weeks of January. Nearly ​ ​ every instrument on the album was played by DeMarco, aside from keyboards on select tracks by touring member and close friend Alec Meen. Traveling sound engineer, Joe ​ ​ ​ Santarpia, helped shape the record, sharing engineering and mixing duties with DeMarco. ​ The title is inspired by DeMarco’s use of “cowboy” as a term of endearment for close friends. “I use it often when referring to people in my life,” says DeMarco. ​ ​ Mac DeMarco recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Alongside ​ ​ ​ band members Alec Meen and Jon Lent, he also performed a cover of Feist’s “One Evening” ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ for their “Cover Room” series. DeMarco and his band will be touring North America and ​ ​ ​ ​ Europe extensively in support of Here Comes The Cowboy.
