We're constantly evaluating our set lists to ensure they're current, and are regularly adding new songs, and archiving old songs that we feel no longer engage the guests at our weddings and events. In saying this, we want you and your guests to love our tunes, so if you do have a couple of faves from our list, we want you to let us know so we can be sure to include them. Your choice of ceremony songs (aisle song, signing of marriage certificate, and exit song) are completely up to you and do not need to be songs from our list. This applies to your first dance also. - TM -.

  • A New Land the LORD Had Said to Abram, “Go from Your Country, Your People and Your Father’S Household to the Land I Will Show You.” Genesis 12:1
A New Land The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Genesis 12:1 At the peak of the African American migration in 1917 from the South to the North, Beloit was a city that became the destination for many people. A large number of northern manufacturing plants recruited African Americans from the South to come North to work in their factories due to the loss of white workers who were away fighting in World War I. Fairbanks Morse & Company, located in Beloit, also needed additional workers to help fill the heavy demand of machinery that was manufactured by Fairbanks. Fairbanks employed an estimated 2,300 workers in 1915, of which only six were African Americans. The 1910 U.S. census recorded the population for Beloit to be 15,125, of which only ninety-four were African Americans. In 1916, Fairbanks enlisted the aid of a young African American from Pontotoc, Mississippi by the name of John McCord to help recruit black labor. This was the beginning of the Great Migration to Beloit for many African Americans. Eager for an opportunity to escape the Jim Crow laws of the South, begin a better life for themselves and their families, they knew they needed to also fill their spiritual needs. They believed to be without a church was to be without a place of spiritual consolation and worship of the God on which they relied. To be without a church was to be without a place of refuge from society’s racist assaults on their culture and intellectual character.

  • Full Results of Survey of Songs
Existential Songs Full results Supplementary material for Mick Cooper’s Existential psychotherapy and counselling: Contributions to a pluralistic practice (Sage, 2015), Appendix. One of the great strengths of existential philosophy is that it stretches far beyond psychotherapy and counselling; into art, literature and many other forms of popular culture. This means that there are many – including films, novels and songs that convey the key messages of existentialism. These may be useful for trainees of existential therapy, and also as recommendations for clients to deepen an understanding of this way of seeing the world. In order to identify the most helpful resources, an online survey was conducted in the summer of 2014 to identify the key existential films, books and novels. Invites were sent out via email to existential training institutes and societies, and through social media. Participants were invited to nominate up to three of each art media that ‘most strongly communicate the core messages of existentialism’. In total, 119 people took part in the survey (i.e., gave one or more response). Approximately half were female (n = 57) and half were male (n = 56), with one of other gender. The average age was 47 years old (range 26–89). The participants were primarily distributed across the UK (n = 37), continental Europe (n = 34), North America (n = 24), Australia (n = 15) and Asia (n = 6). Around 90% of the respondents were either qualified therapists (n = 78) or in training (n = 26). Of these, around two-thirds (n = 69) considered themselves existential therapists, and one third (n = 32) did not. There were 235 nominations for the key existential song, with enormous variation across the different respondents.

What shines through from the very start is how big a fan of Kate's the author is. Costello's art is a celebration of the intellect, with an aggressive use of irony. This is a good biography which I've given three stars rather than four because I'm not sure how much it would interest those not already into its subject. I am strengthened by her determination to do it her way.

Ciaran Gribbin Ciaran Gribbin is a Grammy nominated songwriter and performer who, in addition to working with word class artists such as Madonna, U2, Paul McCartney, Snow Patrol and Al Pacino, has toured the world as the singer of INXS. Ciaran was born in war-torn Northern Ireland growing up in ‘The Troubles’. As a young musician he cut his teeth doing gig after gig in the tough bars of Belfast and Derry.
