Ayana Terauchi, Semi-Finalist BIOGRAPHY Ayana Terauchi, flute, has won top awards in numerous national competitions including 2nd prize in National Flute Association Young Artist Competition, 1st prize in MTNA Senior Woodwind National Competition, and 1st prize and award for best performance of newly commissioned work in National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition. She has been featured in the NPR radio show From the Top during their national tour in Kentucky, as well as the prestigious music program, YoungArts held every year in Florida. She has recently attended Aspen Music Festival where she had the opportunity to study under well- acclaimed flutists, including Marina Puccinini, Demarre McGill, Jeffrey Khaner, Christina Smith, Eric Gratton and Nadine Asin. She has had the guidance of other prominent flutists including Emmanual Pahud, Robert Langevin and David Buck. She is currently finishing her 2nd year at University of Michigan, studying flute performance with Amy Porter. INFLUENCES My mom is the most profound influence I've had in my life. She's the first person I go to when there's a problem and she's the person I trust the most. She has been so supportive and encouraging of my passion of creating music ever since the beginning. She provided INSTRUMENT: Flute me with an amazing first piano and flute teacher, whom both nurtured my love for playing AGE: 19 the instrument and creating music, and she constantly expressed her love of listening to me play my instruments. My aunt and my uncle have had profound SCHOOL: infuences on me as well, from my aunt teaching me how to practice the piano when I was younger to my uncle teaching me life lessons throughout my life. I also love watching movies, and learning different languages and cultures. I've been taking French for about 6-7 years. .
