    GOBELINS and Netflix strengthen their partnership in favour of the emergence of new talents in animation Paris, November 3rd, 2020 - One year after the establishment of a partnership aimed at identifying and developing new talent in animation, Netflix and GOBELINS announce a new chapter in their collaboration with the creation of scholarships for three Bachelor's students, a new post-baccalaureate course. This new chapter of action complements the initiatives already in place with, in particular, the financing of scholarships for Master students from the African continent and the integration each year of a young graduate from GOBELINS into the Netflix Animation Fellowship programme. A broadening of the partnership set up in 2019 On the occasion of the start of the 2020 academic year, Netflix and GOBELINS are strengthening the partnership set up in 2019 with the creation of scholarships that will give three students each year access to GOBELINS' education as part of the introduction of a Bachelor's degree. This new course aims to master all animation techniques, both traditional and digital (2D and 3D), from pre-production to post-production, using professional methods practised in animation film studios in France and abroad. The first beneficiaries of this character animation apprenticeship scholarship programme will be appointed in June 2021. Most bands would be pleased to have a legacy set in stone, but MGMT have spent the better part of the last decade trying to distance themselves from pop stardom and prove to the world—or to themselves— that they’re a serious experimental band. They’ve succeeded, sort of. Though most of the world will always know MGMT for their hits, we no longer have any safe expectations for the “next MGMT album,” and it makes perfect sense that they’re ditching the psych-poppet affectations to reposition themselves as compadres of Ariel Pink and John Maus. Little Dark Age, the duo’s long-gestating fourth album, casts them as graveyard goths whose madcap sense of humor barely keeps the bad vibes at bay. That it works is a testament to just how unpredictable this band has become in its experimental period. This feels like the logical endpoint of the band’s hermeticism. While Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser once presented themselves as cult leaders, with “the handshake under our tongue,” here they’re more like mad prophets broadcasting their ravings to the world from a dingy basement. The music is mid-fi, shrouded in filters that feel like the musical embodiment of the band’s misanthropy, and the dominant instrument isn’t synth or guitar but Matt Asti’s bass, which burbles nauseously out of the gloom.

In ninth grade at his Alabama school he headed the sound department as the youngest student ever to hold that role. He handled mixing for student films, live music and theatrical productions. During his junior year in high school Brett left to work on his first feature film “Under Siege” where he met veteran Sound Mixer Scott Smith and cemented his enthusiasm for feature film Production Sound. After high school Brett learned Sound Utility under Mixer Whit Norris. While he continued studying in his Sound pursuits, he moved to Los Angeles in 1996 and then relocating to his current residence in New Orleans in 2003. His projects include documentaries, comedy and drama features, from big budgets to small. Having transitioned from early technology to today’s advanced tech, Brett’s over twenty years’ experience quickly overcomes sound challenges and he delivers outstanding tracks. He works closely with Directors to understand and convey their creative style and vision and capture the best of actor performances. Brett works with acclaimed Directors including Lisa Joy, Kevin Smith, Mike Flanagan, James Mangold and Jordan Peele to name a few.
