RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN SURGICAL ONCOLOGY AND CANCER IMMUNOTHERAPY National Cancer Institute • National Institutes of Health The Research Fellowships in Surgical Oncology and Cancer Immunotherapy at the National Cancer Institute encompass two time-honored programs combining bench research in Surgical Oncology with training in clinical research through direct patient care. The unique environment of the Clinical Center at the National Institutes of Health allows for direct bench-to-bedside and bedside-to-bench translational research under the direction of world leaders in Surgical Oncology. Two and three year research programs are available. With a focus on the development of scientific inquiry, this foundational component of the research fellowships holds quality basic science training as a priority, with fellows entering laboratories across surgical and medical disciplines*. Fellows additionally have access to all core basic science facilities at the NIH and its associated laboratory sites. Multiple educational opportunities for training in traditional and novel scientific methods are available to fellows through the NIH as well. *All fellows participating in the Research Fellowship in Cancer Immunology are required to dedicate their research time to an immunology laboratory.
