What is RankBrain

RankBrain is a (AI) algorithm that Google uses to sort the search results. It also helps Google process and understand search queries. RankBrain has two main jobs

1. Understanding search queries (keywords) 2. Measuring how people interact with the results (user satisfaction)

Keyword Research in a RankBrain World

Do the keyword research base on the topic (not on the indivisual keyword) which has a clear

intent behind.

Find a main keyword for each intent.

Try to optimize around the intent, not the keyword only.

Example of difference keywords with the same intent

"Best pos for Magento" vs "Best Magento pos" has almost the same results.

"leading pos for Magento" vs "Best Magento pos system" has almost the same results

even they have very difference keywords. Popular mistake: Keyword stuffing

Keyword stuffing is when you overuse keywords and phrases that relate to the main keyword in attempts to rank higher in search. It’s a bad SEO practice that you should avoid it at all costs.

Here’s an example of a keyword stuffed paragraph

Do you want to learn java online? Most java tutorials are not created to help beginners learn java online, because the online java learning platforms are not user-friendly. But today, in the Los

Angeles area, you can easily learn java online from the comfort of your home and become a java online expert.

Here's a better paragraph

Are you ready to learn java online? It’s a good step towards upgrading your skills and giving you a better chance of getting that job. There are several places to learn java on the web, and within 2 –

3 months, you’ll be programming in java. Most people don’t like the idea of taking online java courses, but I believe it’s one of the most flexible ways to get access to a wealth of knowledge and become skilled in your life’s pursuit.

Finding synonyms for your main keyword

Find keywords with the same meaning as the principle keyword, but with different spelling

and structure. Example: image, picture, photo.

Don’t over-optimize for other keywords or you could get penalized. Only use them when

necessary and make sure your copy flows naturally when a human reads it!

Write in a natural tone. Make sure that the new keywords don’t override the main keyword

that you want to rank for. The new key phrases are only there to give additional meaning to

your content and to help Google understand the context of what you’re talking about.

Optimize Around Medium Tail Keywords

Instead of focussed on the long tail keywords, we focussed on the Medium tail keywords Create a page to explain about the toptic and its related terms, then you will be rank in

many more organic keywords.

How to Optimize Your Content for Bounce Rate and Dwell Time

How to Reduce Bounce Rate and Boost Dwell Time

Does Google REALLY Use Dwell Time? The answer is yes.

Dwell time is the amount of time a Google searcher spends on your site after clicking on your result.

The longer someone spends on your page, the better.

1. Answer the question of visitor in the first sentence

When someone clicks on your page, they want to have the answer immediately. In other words, they do not want to scroll down to find the answer. So, put your first sentence of your content as the answer and make it front-and-center.

2. Use Short Intros (5-10 Sentences MAX) Your intro is where 90% of your readers decide to stay… or go.

3. Publish Long, In-Depth Content

Longer content=better Dwell Time.

The other reason that long form content improves Dwell Time is the fact that longer content

can fully answer a searcher’s query.

4. Break Up Your Content Into Bite Size Chunks

LSI Keywords (Latent semantic indexing)

Latent semantic indexing (LSI) is a system search engines use to analyze the other words people use surrounding a given topic. LSI keywords are words and phrases with a high degree of correlation to your target topic. Google's algorithm uses them to help determine content quality and relevance to the search term.

Preparing images for use in your pages

Step 1. Choose the right file name

Link to an image is the same the url of a webpage. Google use the name to identify what the image is about before looking at it.

The best way to describe about an image:

Should include the keywords or key phrases in the file name.

For example: In our features overview page the first image has name: img-slide03.png. We can use a better file name such as magestore-magento-pos-system- overview .png

Add more varients reflected the topic of your landing page.

Step 2. Choose the right format

There are many types for image format. Use a format that fits with your purpose.

Select JPEG for larger photos or illustrations. It will give you good results in terms of

colors and clarity with a relatively small file size.

Select PNG if you want to preserve background transparency.

We DON'T use WebP at this moment though it will produce high-quality results with smaller

file sizes. Check the pros and cons of using .WEBP here.

Select SVG for logos and icons. With the help of CSS or JavaScript you can manage images

in SVG format, for instance, resize them without loss of quality. Step 3. Scale for image SEO

Try to upload an image has sizes that fit with the size you want to display. Avoid the situation when you upload a large image 2500x2500 then show it in the size 200x200. Right now,

Wordpress does this automatically.

You can check the image quality and auto-generated image dimensions for:

DESKTOP: 1900px width (minimum)

TABLET: Ipad Pro, other Tablets

MOBILE: Iphone5, Iphone 6, Iphone 10 sizes

Wordpress automatically scales the images to fit different dimensions of devices.

Step 4. Reduce file size

Use these tools to optimize your images (Updating):

For PNG: TinyPNG

For JPEG: JPEGmini, ImageOptim,...

For SVG: Vecta.io

Add the images to your pages 1. Captions

Caption of an image is the text bellow it. The purpose of caption is to describe about the content of image.

In 2012, KissMetrics went even further, stating that:

“Captions under images are read on average 300% more than the body copy “ itself, so not using them, or not using them correctly, means missing out on an

opportunity to engage a huge number of potential readers.”

2. Alt text and title text

Contain keywords/related keywords if revelant (reflect the topic of your text)

Describe what the corresponding images illustrate.

3. Add image structured data (Optional) Updating

4. OpenGraph and Twitter Cards (Optional)

Updating

5. Alignment

Use Page builder settings to adjust image alignment.
