In addition to being recognized by the Ivy League, Slogic was also honored by LEAGUE TITLE NOTES the NSCAA, earning First Team All-Northeast Region and Second Team All-East In 58 seasons of play, the men’s soccer title has been won outright 43 times. Brown leads the way with 20 total Ivy League titles, followed by Harvard with 13. Of Brown’s 20 titles, 12 have been won outright – also a top mark in the Ivy record book.

SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE Of the 15 shared titles in 58 seasons of Ivy League men’s soccer, five of those have come in the last 12 years. The last shared title came in 2011 when Brown and Dartmouth both finished at 4-1-2.

DEFENDING THE IVY CROWN In 57 attempts to date, the Ivy League title has been successfully defended 24 times (meaning at least one of the previous season’s champions won the League title the following season). Cornell, which won its first title since 1995 last year, does not have recent history on its side. The last team to successfully defend the Ivy title was Dartmouth, which won the 2004 title and then won a share of the 2005 crown (with Brown and Yale).

The last time consecutive Ivy championships were won in outright fashion was 1997 and 1998 when Brown claimed consecutive titles. The most dominant stretch of title defenses was put together by Columbia when it won eight consecutive League titles from 1978-85 (including sharing the 1980 title with Penn).

WILL THERE BE DOUBLE-DIGITS?? It is rare that no Ivy team finishes the season with 10 wins, but there is a chance it could happen this year. Cornell has six wins with four regular season matches left, while Penn and Princeton have five wins with five to play and Columbia has five wins with six to play.

The last time no Ivy topped the 10-win mark was 2004 when six teams won seven or more matches overall, led by Harvard’s nine.
