Dolby® DC-Post Cinema Server

The Dolby® DC-Post Cinema Server is a modification of the popular DCP-2K4, one of the industry’s first commercially available servers capable of playing JPEG 2000 digital movies conforming to DCI specifications. The DC-Post contains all the features of Dolby servers, but adds additional speed and functionality specifically suited for the postproduction workflow, including:

• Playback of visually lossless 400 Mbps digital cinema packages (DCPs)

• Unpackaged JPEG 2000 playback

• Up to 200 percent speed playback (picture, sound, and subtitles in sync), forward or backward

• Individual 3D DCP eye stream playback (while rendering subtitles)

• Fixed latency playback and external sync

An exciting feature of the DC-Post is the ability to render, adjust, and edit SMPTE subtitles (2D and 3D) on the fly. Each unit is shipped with a CPL authoring tool that allows for font customization, color selection, timing, fades, and defining the Z position for 3D subtitles.

The DC-Post plays JPEG 2000 and MPEG-2 MXF files, which brings an added layer of content security to the postproduction operation. It has a DVD-ROM and removable SATA ingest inputs as well as a gigabit Ethernet and USB ingest port for flexibility of content ingestion from various sources.

Each DC-Post includes the Dolby CineLister software utility, which provides easy scheduling and playlist administration. It can be networked to support playback from several theatres within the post house.

DOLBY CINELISTER SOFTWARE

CineLister allows the operator to build and play composition playlists as well as full session playlists. Playlists can include both JPEG 2000 and MPEG-2 movie files and preshow content files. The graphical user interface simplifies the management of image files and creation of new image clips. CineLister’s extensive playlist creation capability can be used for online playback and playlist scheduling. Content Management—April 1, 2016
