by Bonnie MacPherson Curious residents crowded Station on the Green Saturday afternoon for a first glimpse at concept drawings for the proposed Creemore Village Green. Jennifer Nagai, Principal Landscape Architect from PFS Studio, unveiled two options for redevelopment of the TD Bank land and adjacent Horticultural Park. Both are intended to honour the agricultural and railroad roots of the Creemore area while providing an active hub for community activities and linking open spaces including the cenotaph, log cabin and the jail to Mill Street. Both designs feature a roughly diagonal “spine” running from Mill Street to Station on the Green, echoing the path of the rail line which once ran through the area. Each design includes an outdoor stage in the space currently occupied by the TD Bank building. Option A has the stage butting up against Mill Street and includes a large hardscaped courtyard in front of the stage while Option B features the stage at an angle to the street, with a Photo:Alicia Lawson much smaller courtyard and multiple Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar took to the stage August 9. The universe is full of unanswered questions. The big bang theory, black holes, why cancer grows in some people and not others, and the age old question of the

unicorn, all questions that I AGRITALES ask myself on a regular basis. Cat FLACK The big bang theory and black holes I will leave to astrophysicists and scientists, those are two questions that I can hardly wrap my pea-sized brain around. The unicorn however I think I can find an answer to. I recently watched a PBS program featuring Rick Staves as he wandered around Paris. He stopped in to a little known museum where on display were a series of tapestries from the pre-Renaissance period. In every one of these tapestries a unicorn was featured. On closer inspection of said tapestries I noted that the hooves weren’t solid like a horse but rather cloven like a goat. Also the tell tale Billy goat beard was featured on each one, maybe the unicorn is actually a type of goat who over the centuries has been morphed into the appearance of a horse. I would tend to lean towards the goat theory as there is a type of goat which features an unusual horn In 1984 Bill Anderson decorated his truck and took part in a parade celebrating Dunedin's 150th year. arrangement on its head. Through cross breeding or simple mutation this single horn has become two or three, or maybe the single horn was the original mutation, who knows. As to the cancer question, well here I am stumped. These containers are designed to be watertight, which means that they are well sealed with little to no ventilation and this could be potentially dangerous when used for other purposes. Vapours or gases from common flammable or combustible substances – such as aerosol cans, water heaters, paint thinner or motor oil – when combined with an ignition source in a container with little to no ventilation, can produce a catastrophic incident.
