Throutgh this program the women community will be able to increase their leadership and conservation skills, this will also make a difference in their communities and it will involved directly in the conservation of birds. The Jacamar Club programs perform a series of activities as a preliminary steps to environmental education, ecotourism ideas and conservation of bird biotopes in Peru and Bolivia.

BIRDING LOCALITIES OF INTEREST
APOLO – BOLIVIA
Apolo is a small city and a municipality in Bolivia, capital of the Franz Tamayo province (formerly Caupolicán), located north of the department of La Paz. Apolo is characterized mainly by its beautiful valleys, pleasant climate, spaciousness, healthiness, grasslands, streams and its natural riches. Apolo area holds the only Bolivian Andean Cerrado in the world, with its flagship species the Palkachupa Cotinga. For years this area has remained unexplored by birdwatchers, but recent discoveries are making the long road trip to this uinique area worth the effort.

GUANS, CHACHALACAS, AND CURASSOWS - (Cracidae) Speckled Chachalaca - Ortalis guttata – Chachalaca Jaspeada Common in Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
SWIFTS - (Apodidae) White-collared Swift - Streptoprocne zonaris -Vencejo colo blanco Large flocks flying near Aten, Apolo in Bolivia.
RAILS, GALLINULES AND COOTS - (Rallidae) Gray-cowled Wood-Rail - Aramides cajaneus - vencejo acollarado Seen at Aten, Apolo in Bolivia. The old Gray-necked Wood-Rail has been split two ways – Russet-napped Wood-Rail Aramides albiventris of Mexico and the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica and the one we saw of the Pacific slope of Cosat Riva to Argentina.
PLOVERS AND LAPWINGS - (Charadriidae) Southern Lapwing - Vanellus chilensis - tero-tero Seen several near Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
IBISES AND SPOONBILLS - (Threskiornithidae) Bare-faced Ibis - Phimosus infuscatus - Ibis afeitado Seen several near Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
NEW WORLD VULTURES - (Cathartidae) Black Vulture - Coragyps atratus - buitre negro americano Common all over Bolivia. After the opinions of a few 19th century taxonomists were long ignored, recent genetic studies have indicated that New World vultures are modified storks and don’t belong with the raptors; an excellent example of convergent evolution.
HAWKS, EAGLES AND KITES - (Accipitridae) Roadside Hawk - Rupornis magnirostris - gavilán pollero Common in Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
OWLS – (Strigidae) Burrowing Owl - Athene cunicularia - tecolote llanero Seen few at the open fields near Apolo in Bolivia. Greek mythology – Athene was the goddess of wisdom, war and the liberal arts, whose favorite bird was the Owl
PUFFBIRDS - (Bucconidae) White-eared Puffbird - Nystalus chacuru - buco chacurú Seen one near Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
NEW WORLD PARROTS - (Psittacidae) Blue-headed Parrot - Pionus menstruus – Loro de cabeza azul. Several seen near Aten, Apolo Bolivia

White-eyed Parakeet - Psittacara leucophthalmus – Cotorra de ojo Blanco. Common in Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
TYPICAL ANTBIRDS - (Thamnophilidae) RRChestnut-backed Antshrike - Thamnophilus palliates - Batará dorsicastaño Seen at near Aten, Apolo in Bolivia. Bamboo specialist.
OVENBIRDS AND WOODCREEPERS (Furnariidae) Greater Thornbird – Phacellodomus ruber - Espinero grande Heard and seen near Aten, Apolo in Bolivia
TYRANT FLYCATCHERS - (Tyrannidae) Social Flycatcher - Myiozetetes similis - Mosquero Seen at Aten in Bolivia
COTINGAS – (Cotingidae) Palkachupa Cotinga – Phibalura boliviana - Palkachupa Cotinga de Apolo (Bolivia Endemic) Seen several near Aten, Apolo. The palkachupa is an endemic bird of Bolivia, which lives between 1250 and 2000 meters in height, in forests of the Cerrado ecoregion and builds its nests on the trees of Byrsonima crassifolia and Alchornea triplinervia, according to the Bolivian Bird Book. .
The Apolo cotinga, 2 (Phibalura boliviana), also called yungueño treasure, Bolivian treasure or palkachupa cotinga, 3 is a species of passerine bird of the Cotingidae family, one of the two belonging to the genus Phibalura. It is native to west central South America.
