Aimee Knight began her filmmaking career in 2005, when she began participating in the Directing the Hero Within documentary-making workshops operated by -based production company, tallstoreez productionz. ln 2006, Aimee commenced study at Flinders University in the Bachelor of Creative Arts degree, specialising in screen production and theory. Aimee produced the award nominated short comedy, "The Threat that Came from Beyond Tomorrow to Destroy Us All", for which she received a Best Emerging Producer nomination at the 2008 South Australian Short Screen Awards.

ln 2008, Aimee was a recipient of the annual I Can See Queerly Now funding initiative, for her documentary, "Talk Derby to Me", about the all-girl Adelaide Roller Derby League. "Talk Derby to Me" was nominated in several categories at the South Australian Screen Awards, accepted into the My Queer Career queer shorts competition at the 2009 Mardi Gras Film Festival in , and additionally the St Kilda Film Festival 2009 in . ln 2009, Aimee completed her Honours degree in writing and directing for the screen with her short drama, "Golden Years". Aimee's focus for 2010 is to continue to develop new screen content with regular collaborators Kelly Carpenter and Krystle Penhall, for their production company Kitsch in Synch Productions, founded in 2008.
