Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members: Wrestling. The word is synonymous with struggle and for good reason. It is perhaps the toughest sport mankind has had to endure. It takes immense strength, cat-like speed and agility, tactical wit, and the heart of a lion (or better yet....a Monarch). This is Hulk Hogan. The “Hulk” is the most recognized wrestling star worldwide. He brings energy, excitement, and action-packed entertainment wherever he wanders. He is also the vocal owner of some of the most inspirational catchphrases around. “Negativity and Hulkamania - two things that don't go together.” “To all my Hulkamaniacs, you must train, say your prayers, and eat your vitamins.” "I woke up and realized life is great and people are awesome and life is worth living." “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you!” For this reason, PES has “adopted” the Hulk’s approach and applied it to education. To be an elite wrestler or an elite school, one must: ● Never be afraid to try something new. ● Utilize teamwork to make the dream work. ● Never stop learning. ● Respect those around you and those that came before you. ● Stand up for yourself and others, and ● Arrive early and stay late. Here are just a few ways PES dominated in the “educational ring” this week. Enthusiastically, Jason Cheslock (AKA “A Wrestler & Educator With A Cause”) Principal Poolville Elementary School We Welcomed New Family Members… When I was in elementary school, my mother would often tell me, "The secret to having an amazing family is...a little bit of crazy + a little bit of loud + a whole lot of love!" This simple sentiment drives everything we do at PES! Please join me in welcoming our two newest family members. We are growing and it is showing. We Continued To Break Enrollment Records… According to the Urban Dictionary, the number 347 means there is going to be a party transpiring soon! So why am I saying this? That's simple. Our PES student enrollment is predicted to reach 347 students by the end of next week. Details can be found below: Friday's student enrollment total = 339 PES students scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 7th = 6 PES students scheduled to begin on Friday, September 10th = 2 Anticipated September 10th enrollment = 347 Let the learning party begin!!!!!!!!! This means PES has grown 31 students since the end of school last year and 103 students since the beginning of school last year. We Celebrated Our Student Of The Week… I scream! You scream! We all scream for....... Alcide Perez! Alcide is an amazing 4th-grade student that has just earned PES Student of the Week honors! Congratulations Alcide! We are super proud of you and your accomplishments. A copy of Alcide's interview video has been attached herein. I cannot wait to see who receives the honor next week. We Celebrated Our Class Of The Week... Do you recognize these students? I do! They are members of the PES Class of the Week! Congratulations Mrs. Cooper. Congratulations students! This awesome prekindergarten class was educated on the responsibilities associated with being named the PES Class of the Week by another super student. Great job Leighton Sloan. You did an awesome job. We Strengthened Our Partnership With PTO… "Come on down!" is a catchphrase from the television game show The Price Is Right. On Thursday, we partnered with PTO and borrowed Bob Barker's famous phrase. Thank you for visiting us in the PD Lab at PES. Some amazing PTO officers could not stop bragging about YOU! We Continued Our Practice Of Transmitting Daily Inspirational Messages… Can you name this movie featured in the attached picture? Coneheads is a 1993 American science-fiction comedy film from Paramount Pictures. The motion picture's plot can be summarized as follows. Upon discovering a UFO in American airspace, the National Guard sends fighter jets to investigate, and they fire on the craft when it does not respond. Activating a cloaking device too late, the spaceship crashes into the Atlantic Ocean near Manhattan. The alien craft experiences significant damage. As such, the "Coneheads" now need to completely adapt and safely blend in on planet Earth in order to raise their child among humans. So how does this relate to PES? That's easy! We can learn a great deal from the Coneheads. Adaptation, survival, and improvisation require an intentional set of changes. The growth of instructional practices and academic success requires similar positive adjustments! As an educational stakeholder, what will you do differently today? How will you work with your surrounding educational family to produce lifelong success for all children? If we don't change, at best, we will only produce the same results that came before. Together we are better. Together we can change for the better! Together we are PES! We Demonstrated And Documented The Importance Of Role Models… The PES Class of the Week serves as role models for five consecutive days. We are thankful for their service and for the wonderful examples they set! Great job students! We Tested More Than Each Student’s Mind… Please join me in offering a huge "THANK YOU" to our two district nurses. Student vision screening was recently completed in Pre-K and Kindergarten. Hearing screening will soon follow. Together we are better! Together we are Poolville! Great job nurses! Thank you Poolville. Together we can achieve so much MORE! - Jason Cheslock Please check us out on Facebook for even more details!.
