To practice Japanese typing Go to the following website and practice up to Level 1, Lesson 7, within the course’s first few days. https://www.coscom.co.jp/learnjapanese801/index.html

As you become proficient in typing in Japanese, you will notice that pressing the space bar after typing out a word in hiragana will give you the option of the spelling of the word you type in . Do not select the kanji spellings for words that you have not learned the kanji in the lesson. There are two reasons: 1. Since Japanese has many homonyms, you are apt to select the wrong kanji spelling. For example, the words “yesterday” and “function” are both written as きのう (kinoo) in hiragana, but are written as 昨日 or 機能 in kanji, respectively. 2. To avoid erroneous automatic grading for your assignments, quizzes, and tests by the Canvas system. Canvas will mark your answer wrong if that kanji spelling has not yet been covered in the class. Be sure to read the directions on text input for each question carefully. Grading Criteria & Policies 一. Grading schema
