  • Minutes of the Annual General Meeting
Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of Olveston Parish Council, held at the Queen Alexandra Memorial Pavilion (QAMP), Old Down, on Tuesday 22nd May 2018, starting at 19:30 Present: Mr J Hughes, Mr A Baxter, Mrs C Offer, Mrs P Savage, Mrs N Lewis-Leaver, Mr M Riddle Until 21:35 - Mr A Williams, Mr R Harris Min 45/18 Visitors – Mrs D Buckley, Mrs S Batts, Mrs L Powell, Mr R Williams, Mr K Lazell, Mr C Northover, Mrs R Boere, Mr R Knight, Mr R Offer Mrs Powell began the open session of the Parish Council meeting by presenting each Councillor with a list of 7 questions that she and like minded residents wanted answering. The Chairman noted that it was a slip of the tongue calling the Annual Parish Assembly and AGM and accepted his mistake. The Clerk noted that the monthly meeting minutes of Parish Council Meetings can’t be published until approved by the Parish Council, in the case of the April meeting minutes they were due for consideration at this meeting by the Parish Council, the Clerk admitted that due to his own work load the March minutes had not yet been presented to the Parish Council, and that the February minutes had been queried at a previous meeting, and only that evening were they due to be represented to the Parish Council for consideration. The Clerk also noted that the minutes for the 2017 APA had been prepared by him prior to the 2018 APA and paper copies were available at the meeting, the minutes were published on the website for consideration by parishioners as it is for them to call for the minutes and approve them – the mistake that the Clerk made was not to label the minutes as draft.

  • 00052 Leonard Stanley Parish Council
LEONARD STANLEY PARISH COUNCIL To the Local Plan Review Team Stroud District Council Ebley Mill Stroud GL5 4UB 7th January 2020 Local Plan Review - Draft Plan for Consultation November 2019 LSPC is extremely disappointed that little has been done to address their concerns raised in their response (dated 15th January 2019) to the previous consultation for the ‘Emerging Strategy’ and has several objections to the approach now being put forward. 1) According to page 33 (2.48) states: “Modest housing allocations will also be delivered at the local service centres of Berkeley, Minchinhampton, Nailsworth and Painswick and lesser levels of housing will be allocated at the Tier 3a villages of Brimscombe and Thrupp, Frampton-on-Severn, Kings Stanley, Kingswood, Leonard Stanley and Whitminster.” However, this is contradicted on Page 51 under Core Policy CP2 where the key service centres are allocated housing of between 20 and 120; whereas Tier 3a villages of Brimscombe and Thrupp, Kingswood, Leonard Stanley and Whitminster have been allocated between 40 and 190! As the statement on page 33 is mis-leading, this needs to be removed and replaced by a statement that reflects the true situation. 2) Page 50 under the description for Tier 3a – Accessible Settlement with Local Facilities “Further development will be focused inside the settlement development limits or (exceptionally) on the edge of settlements, subject to meeting criteria set out in the Plan’s Core and Delivery policies, and will principally meet specific local housing, employment and community infrastructure needs, with a view to safeguarding or enhancing each settlement’s current role, function and accessibility.” The statement of ‘exceptionally’ permitting development outside the SDL is a green light for developers to manipulate and is open to misinterpretation and therefore is a great risk to villages like Leonard Stanley.

  • 'IARRIAGES Introduction This Volume of 'Stray' Marriages Is Published with the Hope That It Will Prove
S T R A Y S Volume One: !'IARRIAGES Introduction This volume of 'stray' marriages is published with the hope that it will prove of some value as an additional source for the familv historian. For economic reasons, the 9rooms' names only are listed. Often people married many miles from their own parishes and sometimes also away from the parish of the spouse. Tracking down such a 'stray marriage' can involve fruitless and dishearteninq searches and may halt progress for many years. - Included here are 'strays', who were married in another parish within the county of Powys, or in another county. There are also a few non-Powys 'strays' from adjoining counties, particularly some which may be connected with Powys families. For those researchers puzzled and confused by the thought of dealing with patronymics, when looking for their Welsh ancestors, a few are to be found here and are ' indicated by an asterisk. A simple study of these few examples may help in a search for others, although it must be said, that this is not so easy when the father's name is not given. I would like to thank all those members who have helped in anyway with the compilation of this booklet. A second collection is already in progress; please· send any contributions to me. • South Gloucestershire Council Conservative Group
COUNCIL SIZE SUBMISSION South Gloucestershire South Gloucestershire Council Conservative Group. February 2017 Overview of South Gloucestershire 1. South Gloucestershire is an affluent unitary authority on the North and East fringe of Bristol. South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) was formed in 1996 following the dissolution of Avon County Council and the merger of Northavon District and Kingswood Borough Councils. 2. South Gloucestershire has around 274,700 residents, 62% of which live in the immediate urban fringes of Bristol in areas including Kingswood, Filton, Staple Hill, Downend, Warmley and Bradley Stoke. 18% live in the market towns of Thornbury, Yate, and Chipping Sodbury. The remaining 20% live in rural Gloucestershire villages such as Marshfield, Pucklechurch, Hawkesbury Upton, Oldbury‐ on‐Severn, Alveston, and Charfield. 3. South Gloucestershire has lower than average unemployment (3.3% against an England average of 4.8% as of 2016), earns above average wages (average weekly full time wage of £574.20 against England average of £544.70), and has above average house prices (£235,000 against England average of £218,000)1. Deprivation 4. Despite high employment and economic outputs, there are pockets of deprivation in South Gloucestershire. Some communities suffer from low income, unemployment, social isolation, poor housing, low educational achievement, degraded environment, access to health services, or higher levels of crime than other neighbourhoods. These forms of deprivation are often linked and the relationship between them is so strong that we have identified 5 Priority Neighbourhoods which are categorised by the national Indices of Deprivation as amongst the 20% most deprived neighbourhoods in England and Wales. These are Cadbury Heath, Kingswood, Patchway, Staple Hill, and west and south Yate/Dodington.
