Air Command Secretariat Spitfire Block Headquarters Air Command Royal Air Force High Wycombe Buckinghamshire HP14 4UE Ref: 11-02-2013-111718-013 Ms Phoebe Spence By e-mail: [email protected] 1 March 2013 Dear Ms Spence, Thank you for your email of 10 February which has been considered to be a request for information under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000; I have been asked to reply on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). You requested the following information: Please list the schools, academies and colleges located in the following Local Authorities that have been visited by the Royal Air Force since September 2010: Cheshire East, Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan. How many visits to each school? What was the nature of the visit – both the activity and the age groups involved? Also information as to whether there is a cadet force, or similar military/air cadet training offered at the school. I can confirm that the MOD holds the information you have requested. The table below sets out the number of visits to schools, academies and colleges in the specific local authorities, the nature of these visits and the age groups involved. The table also indicates those schools and academies which have Combined Cadet Force (RAF) Sections. The RAF, and the Armed Forces as a whole, never visit schools for recruitment purposes and would only ever visit a school after being invited by a teacher to support school activities. Similar contributions to schools are made by the Police, Fire, Ambulance and other emergency Services.
